PLAYER SPOTLIGHT | DAN WILKIN
This week’s Premier Rugby Development Player Spotlight features Dan Wilkin from Holderness Vikings Youth U15s.
Dan is the type of player every team needs. He thrives on the physical side of the game, loves the contact, and brings relentless effort every time he steps onto the field. As a Second Row, his biggest strength is his tackling, while he’s continuing to work hard on improving his ball work and passing to become a more complete player.
One of Dan’s proudest achievements so far is helping his club win the Shield, but what he’s most proud of is seeing his team improve year after year. That says a lot about the type of teammate he is. Communication, commitment and putting the team first are qualities he values highly, and they’re reflected in the way he approaches both training and matches.
Since joining Premier Rugby Development, Dan feels his ball work has improved the most, while his parents have noticed him becoming a much more vocal and confident communicator on the pitch. It’s exactly the kind of development we aim to encourage—improving not only technical ability, but also the confidence to lead and influence those around you.
The PRD value Dan chose to represent him is Resilience, explaining that he gives 100% right until the final whistle. That attitude is backed up by the best advice he’s ever been given:
“Play your own game. Don’t worry about everyone else’s.”
It’s a simple message, but one that allows players to focus on continual improvement rather than comparison.
Dan’s ambition is to one day play for a professional rugby team, and with his work ethic, resilience and willingness to keep learning, he’s giving himself every opportunity to achieve that goal.
Keep working hard, Dan. We’re proud to have you as part of the PRD family and look forward to seeing what comes next.
