PLAYER SPOTLIGHT | HARRY HOWDEN

Next up in our Premier Rugby Development Player Spotlight series is U11 Harry Howden, who plays his community rugby with East Hull ARLFC.

Harry is a half-back who loves pretty much everything about rugby! He identifies his work rate as one of his biggest strengths and is currently putting plenty of focus into improving his defence — particularly keeping his hips square, an area he feels has already developed since joining PRD.

What stands out from Harry's answers is his attitude. He chose Resilience as the PRD value that best describes him because he isn't afraid to make mistakes and keep going. That's exactly the mindset we want to encourage in young players — being prepared to try things, get things wrong and learn from them.

His best piece of advice is simple:
"Always try your hardest at everything you do."

Harry describes the qualities of a good teammate as encouraging each other, having your teammates' backs and working hard for one another. He also hopes his coaches would describe him as a grafter, leader and competitive — three pretty good qualities for any young half-back!

Away from the serious stuff, Harry's favourite player is Nathan Cleary, he supports Hull KR, and his ultimate rugby ambition isn't exactly a small one...

Winning an NRL Grand Final!

One of the most pleasing parts of Harry's spotlight comes from his family, who have seen his confidence grow and say he's becoming more assertive while enjoying mixing with players from different clubs and age groups at PRD.

Keep working hard, Harry. Plenty more development to come!

Developing Players. Building Character. Growing the Game.

PRD x East Hull ARLFC U13s

Tonight, we’re looking forward to working with the East Hull U13s and delivering a dedicated coaching session for the team.

It’s always great to collaborate with community clubs, support the brilliant work already being done by their coaches and give young players an opportunity to experience some different ideas and challenges.

A big thank you to East Hull for inviting us along. We’re looking forward to a quality night of rugby! 🔵⚪️

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT | TRAVIS ELLERBY

A special birthday edition of our PRD Player Spotlight today as we introduce U13 Travis Ellerby — and wish him a very Happy Birthday! 🥳🏉

Travis plays his community rugby with Hull Knights, predominantly at ho**er, and describes one of his biggest strengths as his ability to read the game. He’s also very clear on where he wants to improve, identifying his confidence as an area he wants to continue developing.

That makes it particularly pleasing to hear that since joining PRD, confidence is the area Travis feels he has improved most, with his family also telling us that he is “enjoying the sport again.” For us, that’s every bit as important as improving a pass, tackle or kick. 💚

Travis values the feedback he receives at PRD and chose Teamwork as the PRD value that best represents him. His idea of a good teammate is someone who is encouraging and puts the team first — qualities we want all of our young players to develop.

His proudest rugby moment so far is winning the Shield, his favourite player is Brad Fash, and rather than setting himself a huge long-term target, Travis’s rugby goal is a brilliant one:

“Have fun in my rugby.” 👏

Keep enjoying your rugby, keep building that confidence and keep working hard, Travis.

And most importantly today…

🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TRAVIS! 🎂

We hope you have a brilliant day from everyone at Premier Rugby Development!

Good luck to PRD player Stevie Deeth!

Everyone at Premier Rugby Development would like to wish Stevie Deeth the very best of luck today as he represents the Leeds & District North Raiders squad today.

Being selected to represent the district is a fantastic achievement and a reward for the hard work, commitment and attitude Stevie shows week in, week out. We’re incredibly proud to see another PRD player earning opportunities to test themselves at a higher level.

Go out there, enjoy every minute, back yourself, and do what you do best. We can’t wait to hear how you get on!

Good luck, Stevie – we’re all behind you!

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT | DAN WILKIN

This week’s Premier Rugby Development Player Spotlight features Dan Wilkin from Holderness Vikings Youth U15s.

Dan is the type of player every team needs. He thrives on the physical side of the game, loves the contact, and brings relentless effort every time he steps onto the field. As a Second Row, his biggest strength is his tackling, while he’s continuing to work hard on improving his ball work and passing to become a more complete player.

One of Dan’s proudest achievements so far is helping his club win the Shield, but what he’s most proud of is seeing his team improve year after year. That says a lot about the type of teammate he is. Communication, commitment and putting the team first are qualities he values highly, and they’re reflected in the way he approaches both training and matches.

Since joining Premier Rugby Development, Dan feels his ball work has improved the most, while his parents have noticed him becoming a much more vocal and confident communicator on the pitch. It’s exactly the kind of development we aim to encourage—improving not only technical ability, but also the confidence to lead and influence those around you.

The PRD value Dan chose to represent him is Resilience, explaining that he gives 100% right until the final whistle. That attitude is backed up by the best advice he’s ever been given:

“Play your own game. Don’t worry about everyone else’s.”

It’s a simple message, but one that allows players to focus on continual improvement rather than comparison.

Dan’s ambition is to one day play for a professional rugby team, and with his work ethic, resilience and willingness to keep learning, he’s giving himself every opportunity to achieve that goal.

Keep working hard, Dan. We’re proud to have you as part of the PRD family and look forward to seeing what comes next.
