The ladies got their season off to a strong start with a solid, confident performance against newly promoted Brandesburton Ladies.
We began with a high tempo, and although that intensity led to a few misplaced passes early on, it was great to see the pace the team wanted to set. The early pressure paid off when Paige delivered a brilliant cross into the box, finding Aimee’s run perfectly. Aimee fired home to give Preston a deserved 1–0 lead.
The game settled, and while we continued to create chances, none were quite enough to beat the Brandesburton keeper. The best of the chances was fired off the bar from Megan. It looked like the half might finish at 1–0 until Laney picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch and sent a fantastic strike into the top of the net, leaving the keeper with no chance. That goal lifted Preston again, and when Aimee found herself with the ball outside the box, she placed it into the top corner to round off a dominant first half.

Brandesburton started the second half brightly, closing down quickly and making the game scrappy for a spell. We had to work hard to calm things down, but once we got the ball down and moving again, chances followed. Alex and Emme both struck the bar before Leah added to the scoreline with a composed back‑post header from a corner. To finish the day off, Emme slotted home another well‑placed cross.
A competent, controlled performance from Preston Ladies against a hardworking Brandesburton side. We wish Brandesburton a great first season in Division 1.
