Match Report β Skirlaugh vs Myton Greens
Skirlaugh played their final match of the Championship series in a tough battle against a well-drilled Myton Greens side. With a top-two spot still up for grabs, Skirlaugh went into the contest with real drive and aggression.
The first half was a nail-biting encounter, both teams completing their sets well and forcing each other into the corners. Skirlaugh defended strongly but couldnβt quite find a way over the try line, ending the half 4β0 behind.
Myton started the second half strong, applying pressure and breaking through to extend their lead to 12β0 with 20 minutes to go. Skirlaugh dug deep and continued to test the league leaders, but despite their best efforts, they couldnβt break the defensive line. The game finished 18β0 to Myton.
It was a real team performance from Skirlaugh, with several players standing out:
Sanders produced an outstanding display in the centres, showing strength and determination in both his running and defence. His efforts impressed the coaches, who named him Man of the Match.
Sumpton, playing in a new role at fullback, delivered an excellent performance. He carried the ball strongly, read the game superbly, and gave his team a solid platform from the back.
Next up for Skirlaugh is the Yorkshire Cup quarter-final against Lock Lane β a tough challenge, but one the boys are ready to face head-on.
