✨ WELCOME BACK, NICHE LEARNERS! ✨

This week is the start of something new for lots of our age 16-19 learners 🖤✨

For some of you, stepping into post-16 education might feel exciting, for others, it might feel a little scary, and for some… you might not quite know what to expect yet.

And that’s okay. Trust the process, embrace the unknown, give yourself time to settle and be excited for what’s ahead. ✨

You don’t need to have everything figured out on day one 🙂

Over the coming weeks and months, you’ll learn new skills, meet new people, discover things about yourself and start building the future you’ve imagined as you become more independent.

There may be challenges along the way - but you won’t face them alone. At Niche, we’re here to support you, encourage you, listen to you and celebrate every step forward 🫶🏼

So, walk through those doors this week with an open mind, a positive attitude and a little belief in yourself. A new chapter begins this week, and we can’t wait to see where it takes you.

Let’s take a little look down memory lane…before and after at the college 🥺🖤✨

7/8 years ago we signed on an empty industrial unit…not many people saw the vision, not many people believed it would work. Years and years of hard work by so many people (and from my Dad and his Construction back ground embracing every crazy idea we needed building or plumbing), and we are now ready to welcome so many learners through our doors next week after the summer break ✨

From an empty industrial unit, to delivering Government funded qualifications to age 16-19 and 19+, creating hundreds of careers over the year with our learners, with an amazing team and funding partners! A place that welcomes, nurtures and ensures people believe their goals are possible! ✨

Thank you to every person who has chose Niche (or previously know as Brown Sugar) over the years…everyone has played a part in the journey, very grateful! 🫶🏼🖤✨

And just like that, all the prep, planning and getting ready to fully reopen the college next week after the summer break is complete ✔️

Final staff meeting today, all CPD completed this last 6 weeks including L4 Information, Advice & Guidance quals for all 16-19 staff - including careers, L3 Emergency First Aid, Safeguarding, Prevent, Mental Health Training, Functional Skill training along with staff workshops from ReFresh on alcohol and drug awareness, plus so much more individual training and planning from tutors personal development plans! ✔️
Ensuring our learners have highly skilled, knowledgeable and qualified staff to support is so important to us, and our amazing team do a brilliant job supporting all our learners to succeed 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

We are so excited to welcome everyone back, it has been great having some of our adult learners in this past couple of weeks, but next week we really hit the ground running when we are back to normal 🙌🏼

P.s…did we mention a full beauty room refurb 👀 who is ready to see? 🙋🏼‍♀️✨

After months of planning, conversations and looking at what else we can do to help people succeed, I’m so excited to finally share something that’s been growing behind the scenes…

We’ve seen so much potential in people over the years, but we’ve also seen how easily that potential can get stuck.
Sometimes it’s confidence, sometimes experience, sometimes getting stuck at the last hurdle to jump from education to the real world…

Sometimes people just need someone to believe in them and one opportunity to get started.

Supporting & helping people has always been at the heart of what we do 🫶🏼

Over the last 3–4 years, Niche has raised thousands of pounds for charity and provided almost £10,000 worth of kits to learners completely free of charge, helping remove financial barriers and making sure lack of equipment doesn’t stand in the way of someone’s future.

Our journey has three steps:

➡️ STEP IN – Remove barriers. Build confidence.
➡️ STEP FORWARD – Existing learners can gain real industry experience through our new Community Salon, and returning learners join us as paid Journey Mentors.
➡️ STEP UP – Removing the barriers that stop employment, further training or self-employment.

And importantly, it won’t be for everyone ℹ️. People can apply or be referred by their tutor where there’s a genuine barrier or opportunity we can help with. You don’t have to take every step, you start where you need to. The right support, for the right person, at the right time.

Any surplus generated will be reinvested into Niche Journey to create more opportunities and remove barriers for local people.
