Hull Regency Dance Group. The Hull Regency dancers are a group of dancers based in East Hull, We meet weekly to learn Playford and Regency dances.

The Hull Regency Dance Group is a dance group based in East Hull, in the North of England. Our aim is to promote, practice and enjoy the dances from Restoration up to the Regency periods, circa 1650-1830. We meet to learn the Playford Dances, and Cotillions danced by Jane Austen and her contemporaries. Dances are taught with the help of an instructor in historical dance. We walk the figures throu

gh in advance, practice any new steps and then dance them to the music of the period. Some of the dances are lively, but others are slow and stately such as those you have seen in film or television adaptations of her work. Playford and Regency dances are suitable for adults of all ages and abilities and you don't need to bring a partner or a costume to join in. New members are always welcome, so why not discover the elegance and style of dancing in a different century? (Thanks to Hampshire Regency Dance for their text)

Tomorrow we are dancing at the Heritage Weekend, we will be at the top of whitefriargate by the Beverley Gate for 11 am and parade down Whitefriargate to Hull Minster, with the Lord Mayor and the Town Crier leading the parade. Then will be dancing inside the Minster, so if your out and about pop in and see us and say hello!
