September has a way of making you feel like you need to get your act together. đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïž

Back to training properly. Back to eating perfectly. Back to being “good”. 🙄

But if your routine has slipped over summer, you don’t need to make up for it by going all in for the next four weeks.

Start where you are 📍

For some people, that might be two sessions a week and a bit more structure around the days they’re already busy. That’s enough to start getting back into a rhythm.

Because the plan needs to work when September motivation wears off.

That’s how we approach things at Project Y.

We’re far more interested in helping you build a routine you’ll still be doing in October, November and December than giving you another short-lived September health kick.

4 years of Project Y. 🎂

This weekend we got to celebrate with the people who make this place what it is.

Looking through these photos, it’s hard not to feel proud of the community we’ve built together. The friendships, the support, the laughs, and the people who keep showing up for each other, both inside and outside the gym.

To everyone who came along to celebrate, thank you. And to every member, friend and family member who has been part of Project Y over the last four years, we’re grateful you’re here.

Here’s to more good times, more memories, and plenty more birthdays together.

Happy 4th birthday, Project Y. 💛

🏆 MEMBER OF THE MONTH EMđŸ’Ș

Em has been with us for almost 4 YEARS!

When Em first joined Project Y, she wanted to get stronger but wasn’t sure what training would look like after a previous gymnastics accident had left her with issues around both elbows.

Early on, even controlling dumbbells overhead or in a pressing position was a challenge.

Nearly four years later, there’s not much Em won’t throw herself into.

She listens. She takes on coaching. And she puts maximum effort into whatever is in front of her.

If something is difficult or outside her comfort zone, she doesn’t avoid it. She gets stuck in, works at it patiently and keeps showing up until she gets better.

And that attitude has been consistent from day one.

đŸ’Ș 3 sessions every week
📈 80%+ attendance since starting
đŸ”„ Maximum effort when she’s here

She’s got stronger, built confidence in movements she once struggled with and continues to push what she’s capable of.

All while being one of the smiliest people in the gym, bringing absolute vibes to the 6:30pm crew and making it her personal mission to find out what EVERYONE is having for tea. 😂

Oh
and occasionally turning up with fish fingers or baked goods. 🙌

Em encapsulates what we want Project Y to be about:

Attitude.
Effort.
Consistency.

A very well deserved Member of the Month. 💚

Be. More. Em.

Progress isn’t about making every session harder.

Adding more weight, squeezing out more reps or moving onto a harder exercise only makes sense when you’re ready for it.

That’s why we pay attention to how you’re moving and how your body is responding to the training before deciding what comes next.

Sometimes the right move is to progress.

Sometimes it’s to stay where you are for a little longer and get better at what you’re already doing.

Because we’re not trying to rush you through your training.

We want the progress you make to stick.

If you want to train somewhere that takes the time to get this stuff right, come and see what we do at Project Y.

Two people. Same session. Same coach.

But they might need two very different things from their training that day.

One person might be ready to push. Another might need to dial things back, clean up their technique or make a change to an exercise.

And next session? That could be completely different again.

That’s why we coach the person in front of us.

We look at how you’re moving, what you’re working towards and what you need from that session.

Because at Project Y, the coaching happens around the person, not the programme.

“I’m 74.”

Sometimes that’s all you need to hear.

If you’ve been thinking about starting strength training but feel like you’ve left it too late, listen to the people who’ve already walked through the door.

You don’t need to be the youngest person in the gym. You don’t need to know what you’re doing before you arrive.

You need somewhere you feel comfortable starting, with people around you who want to see you do well.

As our members put it...

“You’re never too old to start lifting.”

And they would know. đŸ‘ŠđŸ»

If age has been the thing holding you back, maybe it’s time to see what you’re capable of.

If you’ve been watching us for a while thinking, “I’m not sure I’d fit in there”...

Have a look through these photos.

Different ages. Different fitness levels. Different reasons for starting.

Some love training. Some probably question their life choices halfway through a session 😂

But they turn up, train together, have a laugh and keep making progress.

You don’t need to get fitter before you join. You don’t need to know your way around a gym. And you definitely don’t need to worry about keeping up with everyone else.

We coach you from where you are.

If you’ve been thinking about starting this August but something’s been holding you back, DM us “START”.

We’ll have a chat and see if Project Y feels right for you.
