Man that’s a tough pill to swallow 😔

I’ve trained too hard, for too long to not get the outcome I feel I deserve, but I guess in life nothing is given to you

But f**k I couldn’t have given any more, I reached the hour barely being able to stand, I was in and out of consciousness, losing my hearing and balance to the point when I crossed the line I just collapsed

I’ve never in my life pushed myself to that limit, my body just shut down on me, the only pain I had in my body was my heart, feeling helpless in that moment I was so gutted

Looking back I probably just didn’t address the spikes in heart rate soon enough, a lack of “race experience” showed and maybe aiming for stations as if I could do 60 minutes was too ambitious 🙃

I ran through it and like people say.. you can only burn so many matches and unfortunately I was on deaths door by the hour

Although disappointed, I’m super grateful I have the health to complete a Hyrox (bar anything over 60 minutes 💀😂), the training has made me fitter than I’ve ever been in my life but unfortunately a poorly executed race has took the shine off a very amazing weekend

F**k around and find out, until next time 🙌

Heres my top tips that have helped me PB at my Parkrun 🏃‍♂️

1. Tiredness is a state of mind, contrary to what your Garmin watch tells you 😴

2. Have so much caffeine you contemplate staying at home on the toilet 😳

3. Maturing is realising Parkrun is not a race, but if you’re immature like me race every Saturday like your life depends on it 🤪

4. Train arms at least 3 times a week. This will allow you to push past people and get a good starting spot rather than being stuck behind a dog or a pram 💪

5. Spend too much money on running shoes and Lycra shorts. The more streamline the better, I’m considering going bold if I lose out on my PB by a few seconds again 👨‍🦲

6. A tiesto mix will have you pumped and hitting the right cadence 🫨

7. Make sure you have noise cancellation headphones to drown out your heavy breathing and help you tap into childhood trauma 🫠

8. Race whoever’s near you for the final 500m, if there is no one, imagine David Goggins shouting “who’s gonna carry the boats” 🥵

9. Enjoy your PB by eating a well deserved pizza 😋

10. If you didn’t PB, proceed to ruin the weekend for you and those around you, as misery loves company 🙃
