🏏 JUNIOR CRICKET WEEKLY ROUNDUP! 🏏

It’s been a proper mixed bag weather-wise this week, which went hand-in-hand with our results! It was a massive week of cricket, including our second home double-header of the season. Here is how the teams got on:

πŸ”Ή Sunday: Under 11s vs Winnington Park Hartford (Home - Cup)
The weather looked grim, and 30 minutes before start time it looked like a washout. But the rain cleared, the covers came off, and it was game on!
Alex lost the toss and the opposition chose to field. Alex and George opened the batting with serious aggression, setting a partnership of 37 runs with 6 boundaries in total (including a monster 6 from Alex!). Sasha & Jemima, Jack & Ezra, and Pippa & Jocelyn kept things tight and protected their wickets brilliantly, losing just 4 in total. Quick running kept the scoreboard ticking over to set a target of 257.
Our stunning bowling and fielding performance took a whopping 12 wickets to protect the target!
β€’ Wickets: 2 each for Sasha, Pippa, and Jack; 1 each for Alex, Ezra, and George.
β€’ Fielding: 3 run-outs, including an excellent direct hit from Jack!
A fantastic team effort that won us the tie. Well done, team! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

πŸ”Ή Sunday: Under 9s vs Winnington Park Hartford (Home)
Completing our Sunday double-header, we welcomed Winnington Park's U9s to the top of the field. Despite a slight mishap with track positioning and the best attempts of the English summer weather, we got the game played! It was a great match enjoyed by both sides. Oliver and Isaac were in the wickets, while Mila, Archie, and Indie smashed some great boundaries. The result went Winnington’s way this time, but brilliant effort all round!

πŸ”Ή Tuesday: Kingsley Girls vs Chester Boughton Hall (Away)
Our girls travelled to Chester and secured another fantastic win on the road! Keep going, girls! πŸπŸŽ‰

πŸ”Ή Wednesday: U15s vs Warrington (Home)
It’s been a tough season for the 15s with opposition availability, a smaller squad than we’d like, and unkind weather contributing to little game time. However, with a little help from our friends at Oulton Park, it was game on. Sadly, the result didn’t go Kingsley’s way, but a great knock from Will (20 runs off 21 balls) was the standout from our home-grown batters. Wickets for Sam and Hari helped keep things much closer than it looked like it was going to be and there were three kids making their 15’s debut from the 13’s. Well played to both teams!

πŸ”Ή Wednesday: U9s vs Winnington Park (Away)
Meanwhile, over in Hartford, our U9s were playing some by-now familiar foes! Winnington sent their representative side straight from their successes in the South Cheshire Cricket League. It was a tough task for our fledgling cricketers, but a fantastic showcase of what hard work and dedication can achieve.
We were sharp in the field with excellent stops and boundary prevention (lessons learned from Sunday!), plus a brilliant direct-hit run-out from Isaac. Cricket was the real winner, and the kids loved the trip to the park straight after the game! See you soon, Winningtonβ€”we’ll be back stronger!

🏏 Junior Cricket Weekly Roundup! 🏏
It’s been an action-packed week of junior cricket! Despite a distinct change in the weather, our teams put in some amazing performances and fought hard in several incredibly close games. Here is how the week shook out:
πŸ”Ή Sunday: Under 11s vs Barrow (Away)
Gloomy clouds threatened this one, but it was game on! The U11s secured their second nail-biting win of the week. After being sent out to bowl, the team delivered one of their best bowling performances yet with very few extras, capped off by wickets from Byron, Jack, Ted, and Alex (2). While some loose fielding and backing up gave away a few too many overthrows, it gives the squad a clear focus for the next training session. Big shouts to Stanley and Byron on making their debuts!
The run chase was an absolute thriller. Stanley (27 runs) and Byron set a flying tone early, with Ted, George, Jack, Jocelyn, Archie, and Seth all putting in brilliant shifts with the bat and between the wickets. Just when Barrow thought they had the game in the bag, our final pair, Ezra and Alex, smashed a spectacular 33-run partnership to tip the scales and bring it home in style! Massive well done to the whole team! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
πŸ”Ή Monday: Under 13s vs Grappenhall (Away)
Sadly, the weather won this one. A total washout! 🌧️❌
πŸ”Ή Tuesday: Kingsley Girls vs Christleton (Home)
Our girls put in a fantastic performance against a brilliant, strong Christleton team. It was a tight game in terms of runs scored, but the extra wickets our girls took ultimately secured a brilliant victory for Kingsley! Well done, girls! πŸπŸŽ‰
πŸ”Ή Wednesday: Under 11s vs Warrington (Home)
Another huge game and a closely fought contest! Two of our girls stepped up to hardball cricket, with Jocelyn taking her first wicket and Jemima taking another 2 (making it 5 wickets in just two games!). Keep up the great work, girls!
Warrington proved to be strong opposition with some lightning-quick bowlers. With the total wickets tied at 10 apiece, it came down to the bat, and Warrington just carried the win by a mere 9 runs. A very tense last over saw Alex and George batting exceptionally well to get us within touching distance, but that tenth wicket just pushed the game in the opposition's favor. It was a fantastic match to watch with quality cricket on show from both sides!
πŸ“… Training This Friday!

🏏 Junior Cricket Weekly Roundup! β˜€οΈ
Summer arrived with some amazing weather and brilliant results! Sadly, our U9s and Girls teams missed the fun due to half-term, but here is how the rest of the week looked:
πŸ”Ή Sunday: Under 13s vs Runcorn (Home) – WIN! πŸŽ‰
Our U13s batted first and racked up a massive 206, featuring 18 boundaries, three retirements, and a great closing partnership. In reply, we bowled Runcorn out for just 103 thanks to sharp fielding and quality bowling. A fantastic home win!
πŸ”Ή Tuesday: Kingsley U11s vs Davenham (Away) – WIN! πŸŽ‰
A thrilling win by just 3 runs!
β€’ The Batting: Debuts for Jocelyn, Jemima, and Ted. After a nervous start, Jemima & Ezra opened solidly, followed by Jack & Henry (highlighted by a textbook straight drive from Jack). Jocelyn & Sasha brought their excellent softball chemistry to the hardball game with great running, while Alex & Ted closed the innings with some big boundaries.
β€’ The Bowling: We kept it tidy with minimal extras. Ezra, Ted, and Sasha all took great wickets, but player of the match goes to Jemima, who conquered her pre-game nerves to take a spectacular 3-fer on debut, including a wicket on her very first ball!
β€’ Special Mention: Alex took a brilliant catch and bowled a high-pressure final over against their best batter to seal the win.
πŸ”Ή District & County Mentions
β€’ Cheshire District Festivals: Good luck to Milo (U15 Panthers) and Joey (U12 Tigers) representing the club this week!
β€’ Cheshire Girls County Games: We were proud to host the Cheshire Girls U14s and U18s on Sunday and Monday. The U14s won a tight cup thriller against Derbyshire! The U18s won one T20 and lost the other in two closely contested games!
β˜€οΈ Looking Ahead...
The sun is forecast to continue for junior training this Friday (just a little cooler). See you all there! β˜€οΈπŸ

🏏 Junior Cricket Weekly Roundup! πŸŒ§οΈβ˜€οΈ
It was another soggy week, with the British weather getting the better of most of our fixtures. Out of five scheduled games, three never even got started, and only one managed to reach the finish line!

Here is how the week looked:
πŸ”Ή Sunday: Under 13s vs Barrow (Away)
Our U13s put the opposition into bat and bowled fabulously. A huge shoutout to our two U11s who stepped upβ€”George and Ezraβ€”who both put themselves on hat-trick balls! Excellent work, boys. We kept Barrow to just 91/8 off their 20 overs. Joey and Will were motoring along nicely at 20/0 off the first 2.5 overs when the heavens opened. Hail and torrential rain made the square unplayable within minutes, forcing an early end to a promising game! 🌧️❌

πŸ”Ή Sunday: Kingsley U9s vs Runcorn (Home) – WIN! πŸŽ‰
The U9s had much better luck! The weather just about held, allowing the full game to be played. We bowled beautifully, featuring some excellent wickets from Archie and Jemima, and a sharp run-out by Mila. When it came to batting, some big hitting with 4s shared between Miriam and Jemima, alongside fantastic running from Sam, kept the scoreboard ticking over. It came right down to the wire, but Kingsley held their nerve to win by 4 runs! Fantastic effort, team! πŸ†

πŸ”Ή Monday & Tuesday: Washouts β˜”
A truly miserable couple of days saw the rest of our schedule completely rained off. Total washouts for the Girls' team away at Chester Boughton Hall, the U13s away at Lymm, and the U11s at home to Christleton.

β˜€οΈ Looking Ahead to Friday...
The sun is forecast to return for junior training this Friday, and it promises to be a brilliant night at the club!

Just a reminder that training is ON as normal, but the Cheshire 5k is happening at the same time, meaning local roads will be closed from 6:45 PM to 8:00 PM.
Don't get stuck in trafficβ€”stay and enjoy the sunshine instead! The bar will be fully stocked, and we’ll have hot dogs and burgers firing on the BBQ. Drop the kids at training, grab a drink, and chill out with us until the roads reopen! πŸ”πŸ»β˜€οΈ
