To Those Who Seek to Tear Down Rather Than Build Up
Itโs disheartening to see individuals using their time and energy not to support their community, but to make petty, harmful complaints against small, family-run businesses working hard to serve the local area.
Targeting a discreet, private container placed well out of public view, on private land speaks more to personal grievances, jealousy, or even xenophobia, than to genuine concern for the area.
The recent complaint made against Bantham Surfing Academy is not only disproportionate, but now risks setting a precedent that could negatively affect every business operating in and around South Hams.
If one small, community focused business is going to be investigated for such a minor planning matter, then every other similar case from signage along Bantham Lane and the roundabout to the use of storage containers, food vans, mobile saunas, and surf schools must now be held to the same standard.
This isn't about one business anymore. It's about transparency, fairness, and accountability. If planning regulations are to be enforced, they must be applied consistently and fairly across the board not used as a weapon to single out and target individuals or businesses based on personal dislike or prejudice.
Letโs see how this develops and whether fairness, equality, and true community spirit will prevail.
