Berkhamsted Motorcycle & Car Club Founded in 1908 The Berkhamsted Motorcycle & Car Club is one of the oldest still in existence.

In those early years the pioneering membership was a keen group of local enthusiasts when motor sport was just becoming recognised as a serious sport. Club members have included many champions in all branches of motor sport on two, three or four wheels. The list of membership down the years reads like a Who's Who of motorsport, including Sidney Allard who designed and built Allard Cars, a highly successful competitor in car sprints and hill climbs in the immediate post war period including winning his class in the Monte Carlo rally as a Berkhamsted member. At Brooklands in its hey day a team of Berkhamsted Club motorcycle riders collected the top team honours three years running. Some of the events the club organises are held in aid of a local charity or similar organisations. As long ago as 1934, the club ran a speed hill climb in aid of Chesham Old Peoples Outing Fund, with a similar event at Tring, which boosted the towns Nursing Association. West Herts Hospital benefited in 1939 from a speed trial held at Markyate by kind permission of Sir Giles and Lady Sebright.In post-war years the club has continued to help the local community. For instance, the club bought a replacement ambulance and other equipment for St. John Ambulance Brigade who are often seen providing first aid at many sports and other public events.In more recent years the club has been involved in organising many motorcycle events. Every year the club runs a charity motorcycle trial at our home venue of Nash Mills, Kings Langley, Herts.Significant donations have been provided to the Auto-Cycle Union’s Benevolent Fund, Sportaid, the Dacorum branch of MIND, The Hospice of St Francis & Macmillan Nurses. This event is partly organised to encourage new members to join the club and as a social event with a barbecue and refreshments being served during a warm summers evening. It’s a relatively easy course set out to suit most levels of ability, especially beginners. The Club is a founder member of the Meteor Group of Trials Clubs, annually running nine, weekend trials, 3 evening trials and 2 Beginners events as well as a number of Social events. In motorcycle trials riders try to negotiate difficult sections of uneven land without stopping, dismounting or putting their feet down. A sport of skill, proving very popular with riders and spectators alike. The Club runs some of our Trials at our own practice ground, which is open throughout the year for Club members who pay an additional fee. Our practice ground is situated on the side of the Grand Union Canal, near Kings Langley. We also use another piece of land at Great Brickhill, off the A5, just south of Milton Keynes. Our Trials here are set out in a wooded gully, usually continuing through the wood and onto a sand pit. Please be aware that our home venue of Nash Mills is licensed only for TRIALS type motorcycles which are properly maintained and run in accordance with current legislation.

Hot on the heels of the successful meeting 6/9/26 we have been offered some new land at Sewell. It is not where we ran once before many moons ago, but a great long gully.
We intend to run a fun trial here on 19/9/26 to test the place out.
It is all natural, so ideal for all levels.

As this is a fun trial it will not be observed, but you will be asked to ride in at least pairs so you can score each other. This is a system that is working well in many 'pop-up' trials running now.

We are running under an AMCA Permit, but YOU DO NOT NEED AN AMCA License to ride. So will be ideal for first time or occasional riders.

Well our first AMCA Meeting can only be said to be a total success!
First & foremost a BIG THANKS must go to the course setters, the officials, the observers, Nash Nosh staff & of course the friends & family that supported the riders.
The day was warm & sunny, the sections taking a few marks off the winners whilst everybody having a great day.
It was so good to see so many new faces, not only to Berko, but to trials.There was 5 riders in the Fun Adult class where they picked the section they wanted to ride. Many of the new riders riding the green route the first lap, then trying the whites later on in the day. The white route saw 13 adults in the class with a wide range of marks lost. Gary Horwood taking top spot losing only1.

Ellis Maesh took the novice with a loss of 90 marks. whilst Mick Marshall, on his twinshock Honda, showed the yellow route to be just about spot on only losing 22 marks.I suppose we must mention that Martin Greeves, the Berko Chairman, took the Clubman Yellow route with 8... LOL nice ride Martin in your new gear...
Hugh Robertson-Payne has his BSA running sweetly losing only 18 marks on the white route.
Harry Coleman & Daniel Lett had a ding don on the Inter route Harry taking it by 2 points on 9 lost.
Gus stormed the Expert route losing only 1 mark.
Sam Leferve won the Youth Expert Elite on 5, only 4 behind Gus, preparing for next weeks Trial GB round.
Eddie Lett was out experimenting of the Youth Fun Route...
Charlie Blake, out for his first trial, smiled & paddled the Green route. Well done Charlie. He was beaten on the route by an experienced, ever improving Leah Sims.
The Youth White route was close Mathew Shepard (30), Leonardo Bianchini (36) with Cody Isard finishing on 37. These three were at it all day!!!
Brady Sims continues to improve & won the Yellow Route Youth Class but Max Isard really showed his class & is I'm sure one to look out for in the future!

Congratulations to 13-year-old Berkhamsted team rider Mason Tidd, who finished an impressive 12th in the Richmond Motor Club’s Mintex Trial yesterday!

The tough youth event featured 60 sections over 44 miles, for riders aged 12 to 17. Only 39 of the 66 starters managed to finish, highlighting just how challenging the event is!

Well the British Championships is not just about the youngsters, we have a gentleman "Kevin Horne" who is riding the Long Distance Trials Series.
Kevin is a regular at the Tuesday OAP meet & either rides or helps out at Berko Trials.

Kevin is currently 5th in the very popular TRF Trophy Class & with a fair wind could see a podium at the end of the Series.

Open to all classes:
Adult: Modern, Pre 65 & Twin Shock.
Youth: Routes ridden by ABILITY!

Day Licenses are available at no cost. So if you never done a trial, this is the one to enter!

Berkhamsted MCC are pleased to announce that they are now affiliated to the AMCA.
Berko will be remain affiliated to the ACU, but will be running some, if not all its meetings under AMCA.
The Amateur Motor Cycle Association Ltd are a legally permitting off-road organisation, established in 1932, boasting over 200 clubs across the UK and permitting over 900 events annually.
The AMCA are permitted by law to authorise events, all their events are permitted, authorised and insured.
There is NO CHANGE for the riders, you do not need an additional licence!
The big advantages for the Club is that a trials meeting is easier to set up, administer, run & report.
For the rider “without a licence” they can still ride, try a “trial” at no extra cost to themselves.
So enter Berko's inaugural AMCA meeting on 6th September. Simple entry system to pre book or enter on the day. Payment on the day, cash or card
