There was plenty at stake on Saturday with 5 teams representing KLCC and 2 promotions on the line.

The 1sts went away to Hatfield Hyde knowing they had to win to have any chance of staying up. Bowling first there were wickets from Vinay and Ellis upfront, Guru produced a great spell, so did Nav and Harry was good at the death. Sadly with the bat nobody was really able to go with Langers as he produced a true captain's knock. Unfortunately results elsewhere meant even if they had of gotten over the line, the 1s would have been relegated.

The 2nds were on The Common and asked to bowl first. JT and Fletch took a wicket each early. A good partnership for Lutonians was finally broken by Marc. The pattern that followed was semi regular wickets (Johnson and Thili getting in on the act) but the batters still keeping things going. In response, Luke and Jeremy got away quickly but neither kicked on, Amila kept the momentum going with Sif going with him. Things were looking good but 3 quick wickets left 70 to get with JT joining Kiri in the middle. They played with excellent control and dragged the 2s to a proper team win and thus to a well deserved promotion!

The 3rds were put in to bat at The Steiner and also produced an innings full of contributions. Minesh and Harsha were the standouts with 50s but all of Jack, JB, Felts and Rochey contributed to post a formidable 247. When Rochey and Felts went to work with the new ball it briefly looked like the league title was in play. That wasn't to be but every bowler took a wicket the comfortable win means the 3rds earned a second consecutive promotion!

The 4ths had a tougher day away at Pinner. Batting first Ajay looked good and Danny got a start but 130 was always vulnerable to the opposition getting a solid start and that's what happened.

The 5ths had a better day out. Batting first, Dave and Warwick rolled back the years in the top 3 while Jake provided good impetus in the middle order. With the ball, Katie continued with her wicket taking ways claiming another 4fer. Banner was good for 3 and Jake even claimed 1 to guide the 5s to a good win.

It's been a long season with highs and lows, 2 promotions. Up the KLCC!

For one last time in 2026 the teams are here! And for the first time in 2026, we've got 5 of them!

The 1sts are away knowing they need a win to have any chance of staying up. The 2nds and 3rds are at home (on The Common and The Steiner respectively) knowing that if they win they will be promoted. The 4ths are away with a good, young side looking to end an improving season on a high. The 5ths are also away and give us the chance to bypass the elusive 4 win weekend and jump straight to a 5 win one instead.

It's been a season of highs and lows, but you won't want to miss the scenes when the 1s stay up and the 2s and 3s get promoted. Up the KLCC!

Monday evening saw the Women's Softball team take on Harpenden in the final match of their season. Having lost the toss and being asked to bat, KLCC produced a very disciplined batting performance to post a good score. With the ball, consistent wickets was the difference as it meant Harpenden fell 5 runs short.

A good win that earns the team a second place finish in the league. A very good second season in the league that further establishes KLCC's Women's section in league cricket.

Unfortunately the weather won on the weekend which means there's no results to bring you. Instead we will look at the league situation for each of the teams heading into the last week of the season.

The 1sts are in 9th which is a relegation place. They are 15 points behind Sandridge. This means that if the 1sts are able to beat Hatfield Hyde (which they did first time around), they would need Sandridge to both lose to league leaders Mill Hill and not get more than 14 bonus points to stay up. A win may well be enough for them to stay up.

The 2nds are in 2nd place which means they control their own destiny. Win at home against Lutonian and they will be promoted. Lose or tie and they open the door for Flamstead (who play West Herts) and Abbots Langley (who play Preston). Win and the 2nds bounce straight back after last year's relegation.

The 3rds are in the same situation as the 2nds, currently in 2nd knowing that a win sees them earn - a second consecutive - promotion. Although on paper the 3rds have a harder match as they host league leaders Watford Town. However, a big enough win could see the 3rds not only go up but actually win the league, which would be a second league title in 2 years.

The 4ths do not need to worry about relegation and instead can focus on trying to claim a 6th win for the season as they travel to Pinner. If they manage that, they would have doubled their win total from 2024 having already far surpassed last season's winless campaign.

A 4 win weekend has the potential to spark absolutely incredible scenes. Let's see what the week will bring.

The last league week of the year is here. There will still be the usual training sessions as there is all to play for on Saturday.

In addition, Friday sees a throwback to the heights of summer as the Junior section take over The Common for their presentation evening. There will be live music, pizzas, and the Dynamo Girls have a game against Bovingdon.

Sunday once again saw friendly action on The Common.

Winning the toss and batting first JT continued his fine form from the day before. He was joined at the top of the order by Hendo. Leighton also had a nice knock at 3 before OJ came out at 4. OJ marshalled the middle and death overs really well including a 76 run stand with Mojo. A few l***y blows and some hard running brought the final score to 263 which looked a very good score.

However, the Abridge openers took a liking to Mojo and got off to a good start before wickets from Fletch, Jamie and OJ pegged them back a bit. But the Abridge number 4 was flying. Wickets did keep falling at the other end with OJ taking a second while JT, Freddie and Solomon grabbing their first wickets. And it was really those latter 3 who put the brakes on sufficiently that when Freddie had the centurion caught it meant KLCC were just about home.

There was plenty on the line on Saturday for our 4 Senior teams. 2 wins and 2 losses was the final tally. How did we get there and where does it leave us?

The 1sts won the toss and batted first. Harry was once again the stalwart up top, Nav and Chet had a good partnership and TT fought well with the tail. 145 felt like it might be competitive. Mojo took an early wicket and things were looking good. But sadly there would only be 1 more highlight courtesy of Amit. A tough loss leaves the 1s likely needing to win both matches left to stay up.

The 2nds went into Saturday knowing they needed to win and hoping for Abbots to beat Flamstead. Early wickets meant things weren't looking good when JT walked out at 5 and it soon got worse at 28-4. However JT and Thilina settled in and started to build a platform. When Thili fell, Kiri had the freedom to play his game which he definitely did. A pair of maiden league 50s for the club. Then Nishan went ballistic with 41* off 19. 226 looked a good score but Preston got away well. But when the wickets started to fall they kept falling quite regularly. 2 apiece for Marc, Amila and Deen. 1 each for Fletch, JT, Johnson and Thilina. And Abbots knocked off Flamstead, leaving the 2s in 2nd with 2 to play.

The 3rds were in 4th but knew a win would push them up to 2nd based on the other fixtures. Bowling first, the bowlers first kept things tight and then the wickets came from Jamie (3fer), Terry and Felts (2 each) to limit Redbourn to 189. In reply it was the Jack and JB show as it has been very often this season. Jack with another 40 that helped set up the chase and JB continued his fine form with 84 off 69. The win means the 3rds are also in 2nd.

The 4ths went away to Langleybury with Anish making his season debut and Katie making her Senior debut. Batting first Milan and Dave laid the foundation that allowed Anish to play with freedom to score an unbeaten 69. 180 looked a competitive score but the opening bowlers struggled. However, Venon bowled a beautiful spell claiming both openers before Katie produced excellent debut figures of 4-36 off 8. Disappointing loss but plenty of positives.

2 weeks left, 2 promotions possible.

There are 2 weeks left of the league season and the seasons are very much heating up for all the different teams. Still plenty to get involved with and still a few more chances to enjoy the best b**r garden in Kings Langley.
