Last night saw 2 very entertaining games played between the form teams of the season.

Chorleywood got off to a rocky start with Jackson 6 taking early wickets, but CWCC steadied themselves and posted a very respectable 138-6.

In reply, J6 couldn't just keep up with the required run-rate, and were only able to score 84-5 from the 11-overs. Fun Fact: 35 Dot Balls from the 66 bowled!

Chorleywood take the🥉Bronze!

The final saw the powerhouse of AAA play the very in-form IMG.
AAA batted first, but within 7 overs were all out for an uncharacteristically low 52.

Despite the low target, IMG were clearly on edge, with 3 players run out trying to force the result. IMG needing just 6 runs, only had 2 wickets in-hand. Coming in at 6, Eranda managed to find a way and brought up the winning runs off the final ball of the 7th over.

Not the high-scoring final many were expecting, and despite the totally legal mankadding, it was played in good spirits and was excellent to watch from the sidelines!

Two excellent, very close games last night secured semi-final positions for IMG & Jackson 6.

IMG won by 9 runs defending 168, bringing them level with Chorleywood. This fixture will be replayed next week in the 7pm game.

Jackson 6 won by 5 just runs. Setting up a semi-final with top-of-the-table AAA Tigers at 8pm.

Those playing in this, and any other game, please note that this is a community-run competition, not a business. Players are expected to contribute more than turning up and playing.
Last week help was not forthcoming in set-up as expected - leaving a volunteer in his 70's to do all the work. Turning up and asking for practice balls when the wicket is not set-up is unacceptable!

AAA Tigers & IMG both won last night to secure places in the Semi-Finals for the top 3.

Next week's game between Jackson 6 & Watford Town CC will decide who plays AAA in the next round.

Chorleywood vs IMG will basically be a warm-up for their Semi-Final as they've secured 2nd & 3rd between them.

Dear WICL Members

It is with regret that this year there will be no Watford Indoor Cricket League. We have spent months trying to source a suitable venue, but to no avail.

If anyone has any genuine insight with actual contact details to a suitable hall, then please let us know and we will do our upmost to make this year go ahead!

This will hopefully not be the end of what has a been a great project for more than a decade. We are presently negotiating with 2 amazing venues for 2023-24.
