THE HYBRID PARADOX 🦁
When doing more in pursuit of performance eventually makes you capable of less.
I LOVE what’s happening in fitness right now.
HYROX. ATHX. Running. Strength. Hybrid events.
More people are moving with intent, setting goals, finding communities and discovering what their bodies can do.
It’s phenomenal. 🤝
But there’s another side…
WORKLOAD WORSHIPERS.
More sessions. More miles. More doubles. More suffering.
Somewhere along the way, we’ve started confusing fatigue with progress.
Training is the stimulus. Recovery is where you adapt.
You want to run faster, but your legs are never fresh.
Get stronger, but you carry fatigue into every session.
Build muscle, but your expenditure explodes while your food doesn’t.
Get fitter, but every easy session becomes moderate and every moderate session becomes hard.
That isn’t always graft. Sometimes it’s poor fatigue management.
Everyone has a recoverable training load — and training isn’t the only thing spending from it.
Work. Kids. Stress. Sleep. Nutrition. LIFE.
Your body doesn’t have a separate stress account for the gym.
Train hard. Race. Lift. Run long. Do doubles.
But understand WHY.
More sessions + more suffering ≠ more results.
PROTECT YOUR PLAY.
Exercise is too important to become another punishment we obsessively accumulate.
The goal isn’t to tolerate the most punishment.
It’s to become stronger, faster, fitter, healthier and more capable — and enjoy what your body allows you to do.
Sometimes discipline is pushing harder.
Sometimes it’s eating more, sleeping longer, running slower or RESTING.
And sometimes the most productive thing a motivated athlete can do…
is absolutely fu3k all. 😂
Protect the movement.
Protect the community.
Protect the play.
Chase adaptation, not exhaustion. 🦁
