Kilwinning Community Sports Club

Kilwinning Community Sports Club We once had a dream that we played football on our own pitch with drainage, floodlights and dugouts. Our dream was alive…

In 1999 this dream started to become a reality when the S.F.A suggested it to the North Ayrshire Council. Kilwinning Community Sports Club was established in 2000 to bring together a wide range of existing sports interests and clubs from across the town, many with a strong interest in football. From a somewhat sceptical start, the new club has managed to lease a pre-existing area of pitches and ch

anging rooms, and develop these over four years with into a series of quality outdoor pitches, four multi-sport all-weather courts, a fitness suite, and facilities for other sports. The club is now used by 33 youth and amateur football teams, with 60 qualified coaches, and around 2,000 local people.

One of our Gyms longest serving members is pulling on the running shoes this Sat for the Captin Kirky Marathon, great cause and brilliant that Colin Hunter decided to do this and help out. You can help by encouraging him with some good luck and positive comments or perhaps even sponsoring by him.

The Captain Kirky Marathon is a charity run, walk, or cycle from Ibrox Stadium to Kilwinning Community Sports Club

The event was originally created in memory of Craig Kirkwood by his dad Colin, mum Alison, brother David, and sister Sarah.

It became a special annual occasion that brought Craig’s friends and family together to celebrate his life while raising money for charity.

From 2011 to 2017, Colin proudly organised the event each year, making it a meaningful tradition for everyone involved.

Sadly, Colin passed away in 2017 after a battle with cancer. This year would have been Colin’s 60th birthday, and to mark this special milestone Alison, David, and Sarah have decided to bring the Captain Kirky Marathon back.

The event will once again bring people together to run, walk, or cycle the route from Ibrox Stadium to Kilwinning Sports Club – celebrating both Craig’s memory and Colin’s life.

We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces, sharing stories, and remembering the wonderful times we had with them both through an event that Colin was so passionate about.

Any support or donations means a great deal and helps keep their memory and spirit alive🩵
