Scotlands Strongest Man Qualifier 2026

What a day and an experience for for me in my first qualifier!

Although I never qualified I achieved all my goals going into the comp and learned loads in doing so.

Event 1: overhead press which due to injuries skipped.

Event 2: 315kgs deadlift for reps - 3 reps achieved which was my target and a huge pb at weight.

Event 3: 380kg Yoke into 130kg per hand farmers - Event completed with one drop of the farmers. My goal was to complete the Event and I did so in a time of 28s.

Event 4: 145kg Keg, 120kgs Sandbag and 82kg tyre Loaded on to an 100kgs+ Sledge and drag. This was horrendous. My goal was to complete it and I achieved this.

Event 5: Stones 120kgs to 180kgs. I was going to skip this Event after drag took it out of me but I was persuaded just to do the 1st stone. I decided at the time to do the 2nd as well. A more experienced me would have considered the split times and put more effort in but we live and learn.

Overall I finished 30th on the day but left with my head held high.

A huge thanks to and for organising and running a great event and totally the loaders and helpers.

Another huge thats to everyone from .sc who were down supporting and helped me with my suit, tips and advice throughout the day. It was so appreciated.

On to next year now where I'll be going all out to qualify.

What a day yesterday was! Finishing the strongman season with the .sc static comp. I only went to deadlift, to try and finish the year on a new PB and that's what happened. All those months between and .sc
Paid off.

I only needed two lifts to do it. Opening at 310kgs comfortably then my second lift at 330kgs which was a grind but it got there. Finishing with the second heaviest deadlift on the day and 3rd in terms of bodyweight to weight lifted.

A huge thanks and for coming to support and cheering me on and the the troops from .sc for the tips and support on the day.

Some clips from my recent training after taking a week off. Keeping this moving and buzzing with double at 300kgs on my deadlift.

Also delighted to press the new log .sc on my first attempt with no warm up. Its about 108kgs.

Between this and trying trying to rehab my shoulder and prepare for a fitness test its safe to safe I'm ticking the right boxes.

Two more weeks of this block then the prep for U120kgs and qualifiers starts.

At a point where I'm tired and really just couldn't be arsed, I managed to get my best rep at 300kgs on a stiff bar to date.

I've struggled for motivation the last few sessions so it was great to tick this off. This was the first of 2 singles at 300kgs today.

It takes me nicely into a rest week which will see me only doing some cardio and no lifting before coming back to peak for a big deadlift .sc

After showing you a pull day, I thought I'd give you a glimps at a leg day for me at the start of a new block:

1) Bouce squats with a pause on the way up - gets your hamstrings and gluten firing. 3x3 @ 70kgs

2) 3s Eccentric Squats - slow down, fast up. 3x5 @ 150kgs

3) Front Squats - one for the quads. 3x6 @ 120kgs

4) Leg Press 3×6 @ machhine + 280kgs

5) Leg Raise 2x12 @ 50kgs per leg

There was some cardio and stretching thrown in there, too.

Sundays are for legs! Well, today, it was

After a few days off training, I got back in and completed a leg day today, and things were moving well:

Squat - 2x3 @ 200kgs
Machine Front Squat - 1x6 @ 520kgs (in plates)

Followed by a walk with the best pup to get the steps in.

The weights are creeping up, and the reps dropping down. Starting to get to the fun, heavy part of my training.

On to an events session on Tuesday .sc

This is how days off are meant to be.

Hanging around (literally) the gym, 260kg deadlifts for a total of 7reps, and spending time with my best friend, who even had a butterfly land on her flowers while out getting our steps in.....she takes her recovery seriously too.
