Killie Flyers

Killie Flyers Killie Flyers are a family of dog lovers who enjoy running their dogs either in competition or just for fun, if the dog is happy, then we're happy...

Flyball is a relay race with four dogs in a team. The course consists of a start/finish line, four hurdles spaced 10 feet apart, a box and a backboard. The first hurdle is 6 feet from the start/finish line and the box is 15 feet from the last hurdle. The backboard is placed 7 feet upwards behind the box. The dogs jump the hurdles and step on the spring loaded box that shoots out a tennis ball. The

dog catches the ball and then returns over the 4 hurdles; when the dog crosses the start/finish line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat. Each heat consists of 2 teams in a knockout race

Last weekend we attended Focus show at Drax for a bank holiday extended show and our last visit across the border.

Friday,
A handful of guys turned up early, the rest of us running low on annual leave 🀣, to do some LL singles and PC

Bodie and Brodhi were both running LL singles gaining more ring experience and making more strides forwards in the hope of getting into teams and both done well walking away with 1st placings in both their leagues.
Little and large, Alba and Norman also gained more ring experience doing a PC slot. Alba progressing nicely and hopefully we will introduce her early next year into League and baby boy Norman getting used to different surroundings.

Saturday seen two of our teams compete and again some tinkering with the lineups with an eye on next season.

Natural Born Killies

Dora, Rogue, Breagha, Dobby, Ryker, Nell
Unfortunately Ryker couldn't make the journey so the team were down to 5.

Killie Incrediballz

Bug, Risk, Krypto, Mabel, Fletcher

Dobby, Breagha and Risk continue to get more confident with every outting and running in different positions. Some of the handlers getting more used to running behind different dogs, not just the dogs getting trained at the moment 🀣

Sunday seen two more teams getting an outting and yet again more tinkering. Ruby couldn't make the journey so Serial were down a dog.

Serial Killies

Faya, Ruby, Rivva, Spencer, Rudy, Jess

Killie Ultimutz

Rayna, Georgie, Noah, Sprite, Solo

Jess and Rivva still holding it together after their lengthy time out. Rudy continues to be a big sensitive soul and lets the venue affect him at times, he still has time on his side.

Monday seen a lot of single and pairs racing while some of us had already left for the rain and thunderous journey home.

All in all a good weekend and another chance to run under the chimney stacks.
Not everything we tried pulled off but if you dont try you won't progress.

Thanks to all the teams we raced against and to everyone that made the weekend what it was.

Big shout out to our team members that made the journey down south again, a lot of milage especially for the PC dogs and non team dogs.

Look forward to being back down south next year but can someone please have a word with their transport agencies and get the roadworks to F@&K, that would be greatly appreciated.

See you all next year πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ’™

Well thats Focus show at Drax all but done and so comes to an end of our flyball travels to England and Wales for another year.

Usually this would mean one more Scottish show and then we'd get our weekends back to rest, recover and retrain, however between The Flying Scots, Pavilion, Carnegie and ourselves we now have a few shows leading us up until the festive season for a change, so still some goals to achieve for everyone.

Englandshire and Wales we shall see you again next year, Scotland lets be having some more madness.

Some of our new recruits, say Hi to Rex, Rascal and Gloria πŸ§‘πŸ’™

Rex is Jessica's new addition, Rascal belongs to Terri and Gloria is Gillians new fur baby, I'm sure everyone will be getting puppy cuddles at any shows these guys attend.

Last weekend it was our turn to host.

We had 5 league teams, 3 LL teams and 4 PC dogs to keep us occupied.

We introduced Capone and Coco into PC and both guys done fantastic. This was Capones 1st ever visit to a flyball venue outside of training and the wee guy settled in fine, our new smallest dog Coco also done brilliantly in her 1st outting in new surroundings.

Lola made her debut into LL teams and dont a great job, its taken a very very long time to get this girl this far and she done her mum proud.

Quinn came back into LL to help out her team out and done a steady job apart for wanting to eat up her wee sister, oops.

Rocky got his 1st taste of LL teams and the big lad done brilliantly, kept his eye on the ball and ran near paw perfect all day.

Ultimutz managed a new club record of 15.67 with a new line up and all collies. Looking forward to see what these guys can do before the end of the year.

After Champs the teams have been juggle around a bit to try some new things out and to help some handlers deal with different situations and it all went fairly well so alls good.
