ποΈββοΈ The future of weightlifting and strength sports in the Scottish Borders is looking bright!
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting the fantastic Live Borders Tri-Fitness facility to present Matthew and Lewis with their well-earned certificates after successfully completing their Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Sports Coaching β Weightlifting and achieving their British Weight Lifting coaching qualifications.
π£βI thoroughly enjoyed completing my Sports Coaching Modern Apprenticeship along with my British Weightlifting qualification. The course was well structured, engaging, and provided a great balance of theory and practical coaching experience. It has improved my understanding of the Olympic lifts and, more importantly, developed my coaching techniques, communication skills, and ability to identify and correct movement faults.β Lewis Watt Lewis Watt
π£βI really enjoyed my Modern Apprenticeship and completing my British Weightlifting qualification as part of it. It has given me valuable knowledge and practical skills to perform and coach weightlifting. This will help me going forward in both my own training and when coaching rugby players to lift safely and effectively to help develop their performance.β Matthew McDonald .mcdonald
Congratulations to both Matthew and Lewis on this fantastic achievement. I look forward to seeing the impact they make as they continue their coaching journeys and help develop the next generation of lifters and strong humans across the Scottish Borders especially with the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 just around the corner.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in supporting their development and creating pathways for these aspiring coaches.
