In the early days of True Fitness, personal training was our bread and butter.

Over time, we realised that 1:1 PT wasn’t always the most effective route to long term results.

Popular time slots were limited, it was expensive and sessions sometimes involved too much chat and not enough training.

Most people don’t need permanent one to one supervision once they’ve learned the basics. Successful coaching should make you more independent, not permanently reliant on your coach to keep you right.

That’s why group coaching made more sense.

We now have a timetable of over 40 coached sessions a week, and there’s always a coach available to help with technique and adjust exercises where needed.

It costs about a third of the price of PT too. You can train three times per week for the cost of one PT session, and for most people, that extra frequency and consistency will produce far better results.

You also become part of a community while still getting support with nutrition and accountability outside the sessions.

One to one PT absolutely has its place for people with complex needs or very specific goals.

But for most people, the aim shouldn’t be to need a personal trainer forever.

It should be about building the habits while gaining the knowledge and confidence to look after yourself.

was involved in a life changing car accident which left her with both physical and mental scars.

Once she’d dealt with the initial trauma and rehab, she felt she needed something more than physio and counselling support.

So she joined us for the 6 Week Challenge. Four years later, she’s still here.

Cate talks in the video about how much the community at TF has meant to her, but what she probably doesn’t realise is that she’s become a huge part of that community herself.

She’s an inspiration to the people around her and a great example of just how far you can come.

And not only is she back running, she’s now knocking out sub 50 minute 10Ks.

And did we mention she even wore a bikini on holiday? 🤫

What a journey it’s been Cate 👏

Success isn’t always a PB, a transformation photo or a number on the scales.

Sometimes it’s turning up for the session you didn’t want to do.

Working around an injury rather than giving up.

Putting the biscuits back in the cupboard.

Getting your steps in even though it’s been chucking it down all day.

Putting your phone away and getting to bed half an hour earlier.

Getting straight back to normal after a bad meal or missed session, rather than writing off the rest of the week.

Most progress is built through the small decisions that nobody else sees. The unsexy stuff.

Things that don’t feel like much at the time, but they all count.

I love my job.

I get to spend my days with a great bunch of people, have interesting conversations and hear different perspectives from people of all ages and backgrounds.

We have great social outings and challenges, and every so often there’s that brilliant moment when someone FINALLY gets the thing you’ve been trying to teach them for weeks.

We help people become fitter, stronger and more confident - and sometimes that genuinely changes their life.

They also keep me motivated and accountable with my own training. There’s no hiding place as a coach!

There’s also a huge amount of satisfaction in having built a place where people genuinely love spending time, and knowing they trust you to keep them right.

It’s easy to forget what a privilege that is.

Oh, and free gym access whenever I like🥳

That’s a wrap!

Our target of lifting 1,000,000kg was well and truly smashed, finishing on a huge 1,293,513kg - or the equivalent of 100 double-decker buses! 🚌

More importantly, we’ve raised £3,470 so far between donations and raffle money for Alzheimer Scotland

It’s still not too late to donate though. You can do that here:
https://www.justgiving.com/page/robert-lindsay-2?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

And there are still a few raffle tickets available at £5 per strip, with the draw taking place on Tuesday.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated - including those all-important raffle prizes - and of course to all of our members who turned up and put in a huge shift. It was a proper team effort and I’m incredibly proud of them all.
