Looking for a new racket?

We are delighted to invite you to a Babolat Demo Day at Newlands LTC on Saturday, 20th June from 12.30pm–3.00pm.

As part of our role as Babolat Coach Ambassadors, we are pleased to welcome the Babolat team on-site alongside String Sports, who will be bringing a full range of the latest Babolat tennis and padel rackets for players to try out on court.

This event is open to both members and non-members, so feel free to bring along friends or family who may be interested in tennis or padel.

Whether you are considering a new racket or simply want to experience the newest Babolat technology, this is a great opportunity to test different models in a relaxed and social environment, with expert advice available throughout the afternoon.

So they only went and done it. First match tie won . Well done Amy and Zack . So proud of you most of all hope you had fun

*Match Report: Kilmacolm 10MX v Kirkhill*

Doubles: Amy & Zack 4-2 3-4 8-10
Singles 1: Amy 4-3 4-2
Singles 2: Zack 4-3 2-4 10-3
*WON* 4-2 Total games: 39-31

We won! Woohoo! 🙌 Congratulations for a first win for the team!!

The home team asked to play doubles first which was a bit different but fine by us. It was another super close match and after some great rallies throughout, we were edged out in the deciding match tiebreak by the narrowest margin, 10-8.

This set the scene for the singles, meaning both Amy and Zack had to win their matches to rescue the match.

Amy took on their #1 who was a great ball striker and Amy was really up against it throughout, back to the wall stuff and she had to dig deep to stick in there and managed to come out on top in a very, very close and hard fought game.

Zack’s first set mirrored Amy’s with level pe***ng all the way and managing to take it in the tiebreak. His opponent made a comeback in the second, by which time Amy’s singles match had finished and we knew the balance of the tie rested on Zack’s match tiebreak - no pressure!! We didn’t know whether to tell Zack or not, but we thought we might just mention it at 3-3. Cue super concentration from Zack and he reeled off of 7 consecutive points to win both his match and secure Kilmacolm U10 team’s first win of the season! 🙌

What a match! Another epic marathon tie, but it felt great to get that deserved win and ‘green dot’ next to our name!

Well done team! Girls’ team match tomorrow against the league leaders which will be a tough one, but then a weekend off before we get back into it on 5 June away to Bishopton. In the meantime, enjoy the sweet taste of victory! 🎾😁🙌🥐

Ps. Special mention of Kirkhill’s amazing ‘big bench! A nice nod to the Aussie tradition of ‘big things’ - awesome 😎

Junior Captain’s report ❤️

Match Report: Kilmacolm G10 v Strathgryffe

Singles 1: Amy 3-4 1-4
Singles 2: Imogen 1-4 4-1 7-10
Doubles: Imogen & Isla 1-4 1-4
Lost 6-0 Total games: 18-31

Really proud of the team today. The result may not have gone our way, but our team played with smiles, good spirit and gave it a good go!

Imogen had an epic match, making an awesome comeback from losing the first set and fighting back to win the second 4-1 to take it to a match tiebreak. Some fantastic shots from all over the court, some great first serves and tough second serves under pressure from Imogen too - well done and so, so close to the win! The best thing though was that right in the middle of it all, I heard Imogen and her opponent smile and compliment each other on how well they were playing 😊 that was so nice to hear and a great way to play!

Amy had a tough match with a very fired up opponent who was hitting some huge shots. She gave it a good go though and stuck in on some really big baseline rallies, but most importantly also kept playing in the right spirit throughout. Great effort to get first set back to a tiebreak after being 3-0 down, but a tough game overall for Amy.

So it came down to the doubles to salvage some points and it was Imogen & Isla to the court. It was a great effort from the girls with some really great rallies and shots: Isla in particular had a couple of rallies where she got two or three super hard forehands to her back in a row! I think we had them worried at times but in the end it wasn’t to be.

Well played everyone and onto the next girl’s match next Sunday away to Newlands at 5pm: Mollie’s tied up with footy so it’s Imogen & Amy in the singles and pairing up for doubles! Let’s have another crack!
(And don’t forget to come down cheer on the Mixed Team on Friday as Zack, Portia and Finlay take on Busby!)🎾
