Your (kind of) weekly reminder that you can enjoy your food whilst remaining in a calorie deficit/at maintenance calories.

Can you sustain your current eating habits for the next 6 months? How about 1 year? How about 10 years?

Where would that leave you?

How do you feel about that?

Should you make a change?

What have you eaten this weekend?

The pics I’ve posted are what I ate yesterday.

I made my own tandoori chicken flatbread, I had lunch out, and I had a beer and some snacks later on.

This was a very enjoyable day of eating, and I’m currently on a diet phase.

Weekends don’t have to be a blowout.

Find healthy alternatives that you actually enjoy and dieting is a doddle!

I was just going through our client check-in forms this morning and one had written this in the comments section.

I share this as it is an honest account of how long-term changes actually work.

THERE IS NO QUICK FIX.

The sooner you realise this is the case, the better.

Would you rather lose 12 lbs in 6 weeks then put it straight back on, or would you prefer to lose 8 lbs and actually keep it off?

The answer is obvious, but the route to follow to do so isn’t.

Accept that progress isn’t a sprint, build life-changing habits little-by-little and reap the rewards for the rest of your life!

Healthy can’t mean horrible/bland/tasteless!

Here’s a few of my meals/snacks from the past week.

As you can see, I eat pretty ‘healthy’. As you can also see it’s not all dry, unseasoned chicken breasts and salad.

You MUST enjoy your food, most of the time, otherwise how long do you think you will stick to your ‘diet’?

A diet you can’t stick to gives you results you can’t maintain.

Find ways to turn healthy meals into tasty meals, and vice-versa!

Meal Substitutes✅

I’ve had 2/3 conversations over the last week with clients about strategies I personally use to help with my nutrition.

One of the main ones is that I eat NORMAL meals but I’ve found ways to make them either lower calorie, higher protein, or more nutrient dense.

I attribute a MASSIVE portion of successful dieting to being able to eat as normally as possible whilst still eating within a calorie and protein target.

Pictured is last night (Saturday’s) dinner. It’s ‘Dorito chicken with potato wedges and baked spiced cauliflower. It was delicious AND nutritious.

I eat meals like this every single day.

Enjoying what you eat is very important because if you’re super restrictive your cravings will be hard to keep in check!

Eat well, just be wary of your calorie intake, get some protein in, get some veg in! 🥕🥩✅

Not all chocolate bars are created equal… 👁👃👁

A Mars bar is 228 calories.

A Crunchie is 185 calories.

A multipack sized Crunchie is 150 calories but I didn’t think that was as fair a comparison!

Also…

Never buy multipacks because you will inevitably eat them and it doesn’t matter whether that’s in one day or in one week, the calories have still gone in 🥲

A difference of 43 calories might not sound like a lot, but that’s 430 calories if you eat 10 chocolate bars per month…

That’s a saving of 4300 calories if you eat 100 chocolate bars in one year!

That’s over one pound of fat per year lost just from swapping to a chocolate bar that’s 43 calories less than another chocolate bar!

Small changes equate to big ones, make 10 small changes like this and watch your physique improve with virtually zero effort.

No change is too small 🤙

Which exercises should I do to burn fat? 🤔
The answer is both ‘none’ and ‘all of them’ 😂
Exercise burns calories…yes!
But is it good for losing weight…also yes (kind of)
However that should never be the goal of your exercise!
Exercise is SO much more than just a way to burn calories.
Thinking of exercise purely for calorie burn is like holding a lightbulb to keep yourself warm, rather than for lighting the room! 💡
Yes it will (kind of) work, but it’s not the primary reason it exists.
Exercise can make us stronger, fitter, more toned, faster, happier, more supple, it can help us stay injury free (if done correctly) and a host of other benefits!
The fact that it burns calories is a happy bonus and should NOT be the main focus of your exercise!

Love a sausage? (Tee hee)
Have you tried chicken sausages?
They’re ALMOST as tasty as a real sausage, but much more macro/calorie friendly!
Loads of the supermarkets do their own versions.
These ones are made by Heck and I’m a big fan!
Check ‘em out and save yourself some calories 💪

We are a (friendly) coaching facility ☺️
NOT just a gym 🚫
Our clients come to is because they need help with something…
Maybe this is something body related, such as;
Weight loss ⚖️
Muscle gain or toning up 💪
Strength gains 🏋️‍♂️
General health and fitness🫀
Working around/with injuries 🤕
Or perhaps they are looking for more.
Maybe they have different goals, such as feeling a little more confident in their clothes. 💃
Maybe they want to be able to play with their kids without feeling knackered 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Sometimes they feel embarrassed about going to the gym at all and fear they will be stared at by all the creeps there 😩
No matter who you are, and what your goals are, you should feel safe, secure, and comfortable where you train!
Having a coach can help with all of the above…something a regular gym may not be able to do.
Personal training isn’t just for athletes!
