An extract from the Presidents Report 2009:
OUTSIDE CURLING
Sunday 8th February
A party of Keen Keen Curlers descended on the Aucharn Pond at 1.30pm and cleared the snow from the ice ready for an evening of fun. The ice was marked with two rinks.
Some members who had returned from playing in The Strathfillan Stone competition in Drimsynie joined in the fun.
Tuesday 10th February
A number of curlers returned this night at the pre set time of 6.30pm and started a game. The ice unfortunately was very poor and after about one and a half hours the decision was taken to leave the pond, to save from spoiling the ice since heavier frosts were forecast. James McLennan from Glen Orchy Club, Tyndrum, who was immigrating to New Zealand with his family at the end of March, was invited down this night to join in the fun.
He had with him his grandfatherโs curling stones which he had never been able to use in the years since he was given them. His grandfather was the late Lorne Campbell, a well kent and respected figure within the curling community.
It was a most memorable night for him and one which we hope he will recall for years to come, in his new home.
Wednesday 11th February
Another evening of good craic. The ice was in near perfect condition, being very keen. The latest frost had done its work well and after the ice was re marked a good game was enjoyed on one rink. On the other rink some friends with their children joined in the fun. The children in particular enjoyed their own game of delivering stones to a target set up at the side of the ice nearest the shed.
After the game the usual banter and craic took place in the shed. A good few drams were shared before the members retired for the night, satisfied with their exploits.
