Top of the table clash at the field of dreams lived up to its billing tonight with 8 goals shared between the teams in a brilliantly contested match played in the proper way.

Started slowly again and we're behind within the first minute when we failed to deal with a Drymen long throw. Struggled to get to grips with the game and Drymen's intensity and physicality for the first 15 minutes or so but we held firm and from there we put in an excellent performance to take a well earned point.

We levelled with a well worked goal when Tom Storey was released down the right hand channel and he cut the ball across to Matt Anderson who made a great supporting run and slotted well past the keeper. We got a quick second through top scorer Tom Storey who was this time released down the left channel to beat the offside trap and finish brilliantly at the near post with the outside of his right foot. Our turnaround was complete when Tom got his second after a misjudgement in the Drymen defence allowed him in to nod over the onrushing keeper to put us 3-1 ahead. We failed to get to half time with the 2 goal lead as we allowed Drymen a free header from a corner to take the score to 3-2 at half time.

We expected a quick and strong response from Drymen to the second half but again we stood firm defending most long balls, corners and long throws well. However Drymen did level midway through the half when their midfielder made a late run into the box to get on the end of a cross and send a looping header over Ian. We then fell 4-3 behind with a tap in on the goal line however we felt the Drymen player was in an offside position so felt very aggrieved at the decision to award a goal. Instead of crumbling like we would have done in recent seasons - we didn't give up and rallied to get a deserved equaliser to make it 4-4 when Tom Storey was released down the right to cross into the danger area forcing the Drymen defender to put the ball into his own net under pressure from Matt Cohn who would have scored if not for the defender getting there first. We had another couple of good chances towards the end to nick it but the ball just wouldn't fall favourably..

To a man - it was an outstanding effort and performance against the best side in the league. We fully deserved the point and was great to see a brilliant response and comeback having gone behind twice in the game.

Thanks again for the brilliant support - the lads really do appreciate people turning out to support the team and we hope to continue to put in big performances as the season goes on.

Next up we are at home to Blanefield in the league on Friday. See you there 👍

Tomorrow night we welcome Drymen to Killearn for a top of the table clash.

Undoubtedly this will be our toughest test so far against a really strong side who haven't looked like dropping a single point so far with a 100% record.

We will have to be at our absolute best to get the win so a strong home support would be a great boost for the lads to hopefully get us over the line.

See you tomorrow 👍⚽

The boys bounced back from our defeat to Balfron last Friday in the Scottish Cup with a good 3-2 victory at home against Gartocharn last night however we made it a lot harder for ourselves than we should have.

The game started very evenly with both teams having good opportunities early on. Fraz struck the bar with a free kick from 20 yards and Tom Storey was also denied by the bar with a header from a corner. We had to rely on Ian on a couple of occasions to be alert but we managed to deal with Gartocharn's pacey attacking threat well for the majority of the game. After 20 minutes or so we started to gain control and took the lead when Blake ghosted in at the back post to tap in from a Jack Rice long throw and score his first goal in KFC colours. We got a quick second through Tom after a great move involving multiple players. Blake won the ball in midfield and released his brother Matt down the right hand side. Matt showed great strength and pace to burst away from 2 defenders towards the byline but then had the awareness to cut the ball back to Tom at the edge of the box who took a touch and then rifled a shot in off the far post to put us 2-0 ahead. A great start to the season for Tom who has scored 8 goals in 6 games so far ⚽

Half time 2-0

We started the second half strongly playing some really nice football and managed to add a quick 3rd with Blake getting his second. A long ball was misjudged by the Gartocharn defence allowing Blake to run through and slot past the keeper clinically to put us in a commanding position. We should have added further goals with 2 or 3 good chances missed and from then onwards we seemed to take our foot off the gas and allowed Gartocharn back into the game. To be fair to them they pushed forward almost playing a front 4 at times which seemed to cause us to lose shape. We conceded a very poor goal from a free kick with the ball almost bouncing straight into the net. That gave the visitors a lift. We had a full bench last night which was a welcome boost following the lack of players on Friday against Balfron and all subs were given a run out as the game went on. In the final couple of minutes we conceded from another free kick delivery to make the last few minutes of stoppage time slightly nervy but we got over the line in the end and for the most part defended well on the night.

Another good 3 points against a very decent Gartocharn side who pushed us hard on the night. Another step in the right direction in what has been a positive start to the season.

No game this Friday - our next outing is away to Drymen next Tuesday which will undoubtedly be our toughest test so far.

Enjoy your weekends and we will see you at Drymen on Tuesday 👍

Scottish Cup Result

Balfron 6-2 Killearn

Tom Storey ⚽⚽

Difficult night from that start as we turned up to Balfron with 12 players due to a few last minute cancellations. Both gaffers - Jazzy and Scotty - were forced to get a strip on incase of emergency but thankfully neither were required.

No doubt about the result - we were beaten by the much better team on the night and full credit to Balfron for progressing to the next round.

Hopefully we don't find ourselves in the same position again with such low numbers which has been our main downfall in the last couple of seasons. We hope this was a one off in both result and performance but hats off to the guys for continuing to fight until the end.

We will aim to bounce back quickly in our next game. Updates will be provided ASAP 👍
