Parkhill Recreation Ground junior parkrun – Event #164

Wow, that was fun, wasn’t it?!

We had our new path in action today (lots and LOTS of little stones!), 37 fantastic finishers, a PB, some first-timers, a brilliant volunteer milestone and, most importantly, lots of smiles!

What an epic start to today’s event! While the “Ultimate Athletics Championships” are currently underway, we had our very own version right here at Parkhill. And as far as we’re concerned, you were ALL ultimate champions today! 🏆

We had 37 fabulous finishers cross the line this morning.

A very warm Parkhill welcome to Alexander and James, who joined us for the first time, coming all the way from Florence Park junior parkrun! We hope you enjoyed your visit and that we’ll see you again soon.

A huge well done to Seren Button, who achieved a shiny new PB today – along with LOTS of smiles! 😁

💜 A very special v100!

A HUGE congratulations to Kirsty, our tail walker today, who reached the incredible milestone of 100 volunteer occasions!

Even more amazingly, Kirsty has completed all 100 of her volunteer occasions here at Parkhill. The maths wizards among you will realise that means she has volunteered at more than half of all our events!

And if that wasn’t impressive enough, Kirsty has been our tail walker an incredible 92 times! 🤯

Thank you, Kirsty, for everything you do for Parkhill. We are incredibly lucky to have you as part of our parkrun family. 💜

🙌 Team Manson to the rescue!

A massive thank you to Team Manson for their help with the finish funnel today!

We had Jon on finish tokens, with Jamie and Emily jumping in to help with token sorting after completing their own run. And an extra shout-out to Emily, who did all of this after completing “adult” parkrun on Saturday too!

You were all an incredible help, and we’re extremely grateful that you gave up your time to support the event.

🏃‍♀️ Half-marathon hero Rosie!

A huge congratulations to Rosie, who completed her 11th junior parkrun today – which means she has now officially run the equivalent of a half marathon! 🎉 Not only that, but she also received her incredible 10 milestone wrist band today.

And it wasn’t just our PM smashing out a half marathon today! Rosie has been quietly clocking up those kilometres, 2km at a time, and today she reached that brilliant milestone herself.

22km of junior parkrunning – what an achievement! Welcome to the half-marathon club, Rosie! 🏅

📚 Well done, Edwin!

We also want to say a massive congratulations to Edwin on doing so brilliantly in his GCSEs! Even though he’s now entered the intense world of A-levels, he still finds the time to come along and help us out at Parkhill.

Thank you, Edwin – and huge congratulations from all of us!

Finally, we really hope you enjoyed trying out our new course. We saw some incredible finishes today, plenty of determination and, as always, lots of smiles.

Thank you to every runner, walker, volunteer, parent, carer and supporter who came along and made Event #164 extra special.

See you next Sunday for more Parkhill junior parkrun fun! 🌳🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💜

Junior parkrun Event 163 – 6th September

What a morning at the park for Event 163! ☀️🏃‍♂️

There was plenty of excitement today as everyone checked out the progress on the new path 🚧👀. It’s certainly getting people talking, and we’re looking forward to seeing it all finished over the next few weeks.

🌟 A huge congratulations to Benji on completing an incredible 100 junior parkruns! 🎉💯 What an amazing achievement — that’s a LOT of Sunday mornings! Brilliant work, Benji! 👏👏

🎂 Happy birthday to Ingrid! 🥳 What better way to start your birthday than with a junior parkrun? Hope you have a fantastic day and get thoroughly spoiled! 🎈🎁

A big welcome to Eden and Caroline, who joined us for the first time today. 👋😊 We hope you enjoyed yourselves and that we’ll see you back with us again soon!

🏆 And congratulations to our PB superstars this week: Paddy, Alice Luca & Pod. Fantastic running - well done! 👏💪

As always, a huge thank you to all the children, parents, supporters and volunteers who helped make another junior parkrun happen. ❤️

See you next Sunday for more running, more smiles and hopefully a little less excitement from the construction crew! 😉🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Hi everyone,
We have cancelled tomorrow's junior parkrun at parkhill. There are digging equipment and soil piles in the park in the areas where our start/finish usually occur, and it feels better to cancel the run than to try and work around them.
If you would like a run, please consider Bicester, Harcourt Hill or Florence Park. Hope things are more back to normal next week.

🏃‍♀️🌧️ Parkhill junior parkrun- Event #162! 🌧️🏃‍♂️

What a lovely morning at Parkhill Recreational Ground! After all that warm, dry weather, it was a little cooler and we’d FINALLY had some rain. 🙌🌦️ Perfect junior parkrun conditions!

🎉 28 fantastic finishers joined us for Event #162. Whether you ran, jogged, walked, skipped or sprinted your way around – WELL DONE! 👏

👋 A big Parkhill welcome to our first timers and tourists: Alexandra, Eleanor, Khalil, Albie and Amin. We hope you had a brilliant morning with us and that we’ll see you again soon!

🚀 PB ALERT! 🚀
Huge congratulations to Mabel, Adan and Albie, who all recorded shiny new PBs! Amazing running! 🌟

🏅 WRISTBAND TIME! 🏅
We have some milestone wristbands to celebrate:

💙 10 junior parkruns: Adam, Orson, Mary & Layla
💚 25 junior parkruns: Tom

With the school holidays and lots of people being away, it’s REALLY difficult for us to keep track of everyone’s milestones at the moment. If you think your child is due a wristband, please check their profile/results and get in touch with us so we can make sure they get their well-earned celebration! 🥳

🎒📚 And a special shout-out to all the children who joined us today who are about to start “grown-up school” next week! We hope you have an AMAZING first week and lots of exciting adventures ahead. 🌟

💛 AND FINALLY… OUR WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS! 💛

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came forward to help make this morning happen. 👏👏👏

It has been increasingly difficult to find enough volunteers over the summer, and junior parkrun simply cannot happen without them. If you’re bringing your child along anyway, please consider popping on a hi-vis and helping out. There are lots of easy roles, no experience is needed, and we promise you’ll get plenty of smiles and high-fives! 🙌

See you next week! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🌳

Run report - Event 159 - 2nd August 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

What a lovely morning for junior parkrun! We were joined by 35 amazing finishers, plenty of cheering adults, and even some international visitors! 🌞

A big welcome to all of our first timers - we hope you had a fantastic time and that we’ll see you back again soon. We were also thrilled to welcome some parkrun tourists from Germany 🇩🇪. That’s officially the furthest anyone has travelled to visit us so far! Willkommen! We hope you enjoyed your visit and that it’s the first of many parkrun tourism adventures.

Congratulations to Kamala and Vyara, who both completed their 10th junior parkrun today and earned their very first milestone wristbands! 👏🎉 A brilliant achievement - here’s to the next milestone!

There was an exciting finish at the front of the field, with William and Edward battling all the way to the line. Just one second separated them, with congratulations going to William for crossing the finish line first.

The running conditions must have been just right, as five runners flew to new Personal Bests! 🌟 Huge well done to Joel, Francis, Rafe, Kamala and Ingrid.

See you all next Sunday for more smiles, more running, and maybe even another international visitor or two! 🌳🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Hope you enjoyed it… Auf Wiedersehen 🇩🇪… until next time! 😊
