Message from our Club Captain, Grace Rudd:

“As the longest standing member of Cookley Ladies FC, I felt it was only right that I made this announcement today after playing what will be my final ever game for a club so close to my heart.

I first joined Cookley when I was just 12 years old (almost 16 years ago!) and what an absolute blast it has been. We have been lucky enough to have some of the kindest, motivating, talented and loyal managers/coaches/players/support any girls team could wish for and for that we will all be forever grateful.

For a girl like me who started playing when girls kicking a ball was frowned upon, it has been incredible to see how much women’s football has come on and the opportunities that are now out there for us to progress to high standards.

It is because of this progression that Cookley Ladies FC have made the very difficult decision to leave the club after so many years. The entire team including management and all players will be moving to Bewdley Town FC where we have been given the opportunity to play at the stadium each week, something we feel is important in our vision to progress in our current league.

We are truly grateful to everyone at Cookley Club who has shown us support over the last 16 years, especially a few seasons ago when we had to rebuild from scratch. We could not have done this without the help of everyone at the club and the kindness of locals and businesses who all stepped up when we needed them.

Cookley Ladies FC will forever have a piece of my heart and I wish everyone at the club all the best. Thank you again, it’s been an experience I will never forget”

🟡Cookley Ladies 1 - 1 Westfield Ladies (5-4 on penalties)🟢

🏆 West Midlands Regional League Cup

What a game! Travelled over an hour with just 11 players today but with determination and some clever changes at half time, we saw ourselves 1-1 at full time after a beautiful free kick from Abbi two minutes into the second half, sending us straight to penalties.

4 great penalties put us through to sudden death and then a final penalty from Grace gave us the win! You can see what this meant to us in the video 💛💚

🟡Cookley Ladies 0 - 1 Worcester City Ladies🟢

🏆 Worcestershire County Cup

Today we faced Worcester City Ladies in the semi-final of the County Cup. Despite them being in the league above us, we were so unlucky not to win. We came out first half and played some lovely football, showing how much we’ve come on the last few months as a team.

Second half Worcester began pressing and got themselves a lucky goal. We continued to battle right through to the end and we can hold our heads high, leaving the game feeling like we should have taken the win. We left everything on the pitch but sometimes football doesn’t work out how it should!

Massive well done to the whole team, giving a great side in Worcester City a tough game.

🟡Cookley Ladies 1 - 0 Knowle Ladies🟢

Great win for us today against joint top of the league, Knowle Ladies. It was more of a game of will rather than skill with poor weather conditions causing an extremely boggy pitch. That said, conditions were the same for both teams and our players adapted and battled until the end.

On to next weeks Worcestershire County Cup game against Worcester City Women FC!

🟡Cookley Ladies 7 - 1 Inkberrow Eagles Ladies🟢

🏆 Worcestershire County Cup - Quarter-Finals

Two wins in a row and a great result too with lots of quality finishes. At half time we found ourselves 2-0 up and soon into second half conceded as we slowed down a little. However, a change of formation saw us leading the game again and with that some great link up play from the back to score another 5 brilliant goals.

Now through to the Semi-Finals!

🟡Cookley Ladies 2 - 0 Kingfisher🟢

A great win against a tough side after a few weeks off! Probably the best we’ve played this season, we stuck together as a team, played some nice football throughout and created some great chances which has seen us win our first well deserved 3 points in a while.

🟡Cookley Ladies 1 - 1 Droitwich Spa 🟢

Another away game for us today against Droitwich Spa. A fairly even and competitive game throughout and despite a draw, we had plenty of chances which we just couldn’t get across the line. We played some lovely football which we want to continue to build on for the rest of the season.
