We had Donkeys here there and everywhere this morning for Parkrun. Some volunteering, some running and some bystanders resting before big events. If you were at the Wyre Forest this morning you would have had Ellie cheering you on at the beginning and end with her new addition… the wind chime. Thanks for bringing the fun Ellie!!

The calm before the Copenhagen storm! 🇩🇰No PBs smashed in Worcester this weekend, just a textbook taper run to keep the legs ticking over.

So the person behind the social media also took part in the Worcester 10k yesterday, I shaved 4 minutes off my previous time here which I am very proud of.
My husband is Fin who did the half marathon, doing the 10k for me was more for a distraction than anything else, because when I run I can’t think of alot more than putting one foot in front of the other. I was also surrounded by my closest friends so when the emotions got a bit much they were there to hold my hand and give me hugs.

A few words from Katy!

It's a local event I've attended for a number of years now either the 10k or half, it's always a well supported event, the atmosphere is amazing.

Attending events reminds myself of what I'm capable of when I put my mind to it and how far I've come. Plus with days like yesterday the challenges of the humidity and drizzle tested us all.

Half Marathon , Stratford
We both achieved PB’s today (Rubys 1st, my last half was 20yrs ago, and said never again).
They say you shouldn’t wish for your children to follow in your footsteps, but rather walk beside you and go even further. Sharing those 13.1 miles with Ruby was a beautiful reminder of how strong, capable and resilient she is, and I’m so proud of what she achieved, and grateful for what we accomplished together

Next up is Keren, Sophia, Tom and Andy.
Keren joined couch to 5k in January, and then our youngest member Sophia, 10, started to join Keren on her runs. She is an absolute delight to have join us on Thursday night socials, as she keeps the pace up ahead.

A few words from Keren

Here are 2 Donkeys and 2 will be soon Donkeys. We took part in the Worcester City Runs.
Sophia competed in the U11 mile and was proud to wear her Wonkey Donkey t-shirt for the first time in a race and was really pleased to finish 5th girl.
The rest of us completed the 10k. I’m proud I got a PB, but more importantly really loved being able to participate in an event all together. I’m so grateful joining the WDs this year has grown my confidence to be able to do things like this with my family 🫏

A huge well done to you all!! 👏

Kicking off Medal Monday is our very own chairman Fin, who ran the Worcester half marathon yesterday!

A few words from Fin-

Huge thank you to Daren and Graeme for helping me get round that half marathon. You paced it perfectly, shared your water, helped me with my Parkinson’s meds and chatted away to distract me from how far we still had to go and from the pain in my feet due to the dystonia — you did it all. You knew exactly when to push me and when to let me take it steady. Crossing that finish line felt amazing, but it would have meant nothing without you two beside me. You’re absolute legends — thank you for being the best friends and running partners anyone could ask for!
