Step N Grooves offers its pupils the chance to learn modern (N.A.T.D) Freestyle Disco and Street dance, participate in our exam sessions and annual show weekend but most importantly of all, to become part of the Step N Grooves family. We are quite different to other dance schools; we have a unique ethos amid the modern dance world. Steph, founder of Step N Grooves, grew up in competitive dance and

always felt that it wasn't quite the right avenue for her as a dancer. She resolved to build a school with an alternative focus – with zero pressure. Step N Grooves provides a quality, solid dance foundation focusing on confidence, technique and rhythm, whilst just having fun. We choreograph challenging routines for our dancers, never underestimating them. This has proven central to its success – our dancers really thrive. Pupils can enter for N.A.T.D Freestyle / Street Syllabus & Graded Freestyle Syllabus exams – but these aren’t compulsory at all! We work towards an annual show weekend in December.

What a privilege to have spent these years with you. An absolute honour to know you, dance with you and watch you grow (and stress!!)

You write such beautiful things to me “I feel privileged to have been part of SNG as it’s so much more than just a dance school. It’s a place where people feel safe, where they can express themselves, laugh and grow as people and dancers. Your dance school is a testimony to how amazing you are.” But all I know is that my dance school is a testament to the people who choose to come, and love it hard, and want to volunteer every week and make it what it is. You!!

We love you always and will miss you endlessly.

We are here waiting for visits (how epic it’s been to have our Hannah back dancing these past few Saturdays with us after going uni last year!)

Spent the weekend back in Birmingham at the National Association of Teachers of Dancing - NATD Congress with Poppy & Gemma - celebrating 120 years of the association. Examiners meeting National Association of Teachers of Dancing - NATD where we presented the redesigned Freestyle Syllabus after nearing a year of hard graft on the Freestyle Committee.

I am so proud to have been a part of this, especially working with my lovely friends - Jill, Rosie, Lisa who were appointed as examiners 4 years ago alongside me (and been a pleasure to work with Paul too who I met through this)

Very bitter sweet that my wonderful mentor and friend, freestyle extraordinaire Bev wasn’t able to see this come to fruition. Miss her so much.

I have LOVED being able to use our own SNG pupils for the silhouettes throughout the design, used them in the presentation today to all the other examiners and used them to film the example videos for teachers to buy & follow. Shout out to Poppy, Millie, Lily who filmed - as well as Ava, Freya, Verity, Harper, Gemma, Ella C, Lola, Erin, Seren and Evie H who all were photographed / filmed for one thing or another during classes for me to use in one way or other on this journey.

I have re-wrote the book, designed the cover and been a part of the dream team re-imagining all the graded routines.

Late nights and early mornings to get to this point but we did it 💪 Now back to Congress tomorrow after classes.

Erm yep, just 3 lessons post exams with lots of games in between & they produce these - Street Bigs - Street Middles - Street Smalls 💪 “Ahhh you all oui’ed” 🤣
