Had another good ML Training course last week - an enthusiastic group and a mixed bag of weather. The week included an enthusiastic rendering of 'happy birthday' for Sarah, celebrated with with hot chocolate and Oreo biccies half way through the misty, rainy night nav session 🙂

This was an interesting project: last week Mountain Sense carried out a contract for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) at their Bempton Cliffs nature reserve in East Yorkshire. We provided a climbing team and roped access to a seabird colony to carry out pole noose catching to sample Gannets for radio tagging by RSPB scientists at the clifftop. We carried out this work over five days, and the birds radio tagged by the RSPB will be monitored to help understand Gannet feeding and migration movements within the North Sea.

A bit late posting these - apologies: been very busy in the NW Highlands. A few photos from our first ML training course of the year. Getting things off to a good start for 2023 with a great group, and weather that was more fair than foul 🙂

We had the last ML course of the year last week: a great group and a very mixed bag of weather 😀 Thanks for another year of courses. As ever, we've had the pleasure of working with some great candidates again this year. Best wishes.

We are supporting this event with a full-day environment workshop on both days, and there are other workshop sessions you might be interested in. Finished another great ML training course on Friday. A really enthusiastic group with an almost insatiable appetite for information on the upland environment! Sunny weather and good humour throughout the week made for a very enjoyable course.

Just finished a good ML training course. We had lots of weather during the week, but the group kept their spirits up, and kept their enthusiasm going. Looking forward to doing it all again next month 🙂

The class of October 2021 finished their ML training course yesterday, after we had to cut their course short due to dangerous weather. The group were tested in all sorts of weather and wintery conditions - sunshine, showers, hail, snow, sub-zero temperatures. Very pleased for the group's success in completing their course 😀

For only the second time in the history of Mountain Sense we had to cut an ML training course short. After several days of battling with very challenging weather the conditions started to become dangerous, we had to abandon ship. The group put up a valiant fight, but will get more out of continuation with their course next spring.
