Royal Leamington Spa has a long association with archery going back to at least the 1830s. The present club was founded in 1949 as the Warwick Archery Club, but it moved to Leamington in 1953. Over the years, it has included in its ranks some of the country’s finest archers, such as the great Roy Matthews, Ted Gamble and Joanne Edens. Our current star is Naomi Folkard the country’s top junior lady
from 1997 to 2001. As a senior she has represented GB on many occasions in international grand prix, and European and World Championships. She has been part of the Olympic team in Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), London (2012) and Rio (2016). Many club members have and do shoot for Warwickshire in inter-county matches. We also compete as a club in county, regional and national leagues, and many members regularly compete in local and national open tournaments. We have a thriving Junior section and we also encourage all our juniors to participate in the league matches and tournaments.
