On today’s Funky Wellness we welcomed Susie & Laura, members of Living Your Yoga’s Feminine Connection community. They shared their Yoga journey’s of which were completely different: Susie beginning hers in 1970, and Laura embarking on her practice in more recent years. They share how their practices are implemented and affect their lives, their experiences of Yoga Nidra, breath work and how and why they continue their practice.

A huge thank you to everyone that attended this evenings Yoga Nidra & Sound Bath event 💛
The practice was designed to support rest, release, restoration and rejuvenation…the room felt so still with an occasional snore and a shift of a limb or two 😴
Yoga Nidra is a profound practice that can support deep rest and healing in the way that the student directs the attention to. It’s personal and private and yet it can be practiced in a shared environment, whilst experiencing prolific shifts in oneself.
We also had a beautiful sound bath underscoring the Yoga Nidra throughout - thank you Nicola 🙏

Last Wednesday, Funky Wellness welcomed the fabulous Charlie Ward, Sports & Laryngeal Therapist and Singer/Songwriter 🕺
The interview embraces from wellness to the funk, covering Charlie’s journey and influences from leaving the corporate world into training for his current role, and supporting people through all walks of life in need of physical therapy, vocal therapy and rehabilitation … But during all of these years, Charlie continued to play music and more recently has become more recognised and played on the main stage at Godiva Festival, and more recently on to name a few! 🎶💃🏻🕺

I created this Yoga Nidra to help you to pause, prevent burn out/exhaustion, and feel better in welcoming the rest of the day with energy and ease.

Yesterday evening at Newson Health Clinic, Dr Anna Chiles and I hosted an intimate event sharing the benefits of practicing Yoga during life transitions alongside hormonal treatment.
Anna began the session with a short presentation on how HRT & Yoga have the potential to complement each other: HRT can help give the energy, the relief from pain and the mental clarity to help you want to get on the yoga mat; Yoga can help provide the stress relief, the mindfulness and the physical conditioning that medicine cannot provide. HRT treats the hormonal balance; Yoga treats the whole person living through it.
I followed the talk leading a nourishing Well-Woman Yoga Class working with postures that help bring stability and balance to the body; mobility for the spine and joints; awareness to the breath; toning pelvic floor; relaxation with inverted postures.
It was a really beautiful event - thank you to those that could make it 🙏💕health will be holding more wellness events - keep your eyes peeled on Instagram, on their mailing list or on eventbrite.

Latest mini practice on my YouTube Living Your Yoga Channel is Humming Bee Breath/Bhramari Pranayama. I recorded this as we practice this regularly in my Well-Woman Classes and it’s become a favourite for many. One of my long term clients told us how much it calms her busy mind and feels like she can turn all of her attention inward and experience a sense of inner peace.

The video offers several variations on how to get into a comfortable position for the practice. I hope it’s useful.
