And that’s a wrap on another summer of DF Sports teaching camps! ☀️

Our 134th week of camps is done… and they honestly just keep getting better and better. 134 different weeks of camp since day 1!

This summer we’ve had hundreds of different children through our camps.

Some who have been part of DF Sports for years, lots of local children from Kenilworth, and even children visiting from Australia, China, Canada and America! 🌎

It’s crazy to think how far the camps have come since we started DF Sports, but we still like to run some of our classic games and competitions.

Another thing that hasn’t changed is how much effort our coaches put into every single camp.

They work so hard to make sure every child has the best experience possible.

From learning their name, getting to know them, seeing what they can do and thinking about how we can help develop them whilst they’re with us.

Most importantly for me, is making sure they have fun and make some great summer memories. ❤️

A massive thank you to all of our coaches who have worked so hard this summer.

And thank you to every child and parent who has joined us this summer.

Nine years. 💙⚽

Last week we said goodbye to Freddie and Maggie as they reached the end of their DF Sports journey.

It’s hard to put into words just how special it has been watching them grow from young children into the kind, confident and amazing young people they are today.

For the past 9 years we’ve seen them week in, week out. They’ve worked hard, made friendships, developed their football, and created so many brilliant memories along the way.

But there’s one thing that has never changed from their very first session… those smiles. 😊

This sweaty indoor photo from their final DF Sports session sums them up perfectly…still smiling, still enjoying football, and still bringing such positive energy every single week.

Thank you both for being such a huge part of the DF Sports family. We couldn’t be prouder of everything you’ve achieved, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both. 💙

⭐️ ⚽️📸 July- stars of the week 📸⚽️ ⭐️

Always a sad time of year but also great to reflect on all the achievements of each child this year!

This week i gain and lose so many children some that have been with me and the team for a year, some seven years, others even longer...from nursery kids starting school, to df sport players who took their first ever kicks in our sessions all the way through to my pupils who I’ve taught PE from Reception right through to year 6!!!!

Been a fantastic year, thanks for all the memories, cards, gifts and stories!

To all the DF children at sf sports teaching and sf sports coaching from nurseries, pre-schools, schools, football teams, academies, afterschool clubs, camps, weekend sessions.....

💙 PSG ACADEMY | DF SPORTS 💙

A year ago, I shared Milan’s story after finding out he had been selected to play for PSG Academy in Qatar.

Last night, he was back with us again.

Milan first joined DF Sports around 9 years ago as a young player in our toddler sessions. He worked his way through our pathway, always with a smile on his face and a genuine love for the game.

Since moving to Qatar, he has continued to develop brilliantly and has gone on to represent PSG Academy. More recently, he was even selected to represent Qatar in the PSG World Cup!

What I love most though is that whenever Milan returns home to Kenilworth, he still comes back to train with us.

He simply loves just playing football, and has a summer lined up of camps.

Seeing players like Milan continue to enjoy the game and achieve amazing things is exactly what DF sports is for.

Not every child will become a professional footballer, but helping them discover a passion for sport and giving them memories that last a lifetime is what it’s all about.

Thanks Milan it’s always great to have you back with your DF family when you’re home. 💙⚽️

The journey continues…

⚽️ NOT HAPPY! ⚽️

This week, a player from one of our DF Sports sessions returned to us after joining a local Coventry grassroots team last year.

The player, who is part of our Under 10s age group, attended several training sessions, signed on with the team and then played his first season.

They played their final tournament last week, and the following day, he was informed that he was no longer required for next season.

As you can imagine, this left a young boy confused, disappointed and questioning why. His parents also wondering why, as they feel they were blindsided.

I understand every team has a different ethos, but you can coach players, or even give the family other options, you don’t just drop a player.

I won’t name the club, and I know the vast majority of grassroots coaches across Kenilworth and Warwickshire give up countless hours for the right reasons. This post is not aimed at them.

However, if you are involved in coaching children, please remember the influence and responsibility that comes with that role.

Children’s football should be about development, enjoyment, confidence, friendships and creating a lifelong love of the game.

Of course we all want to win. Competition is important, im one of the most competitive and winning can be a fantastic experience for young players.

But at kids level, it should never come at the expense of a child’s confidence or enjoyment. As me and my team are now left to pick up the pieces, and then find him a new club when he is ready.

Every child develops at a different rate. Some shine immediately, while others need time, encouragement and patience.

At DF Sports, we believe football should be for everyone regardless of ability.

Any player who wants to learn, improve and enjoy the game will always be welcome at our sessions.

This is exactly why i set up DF Sports over 10 years ago….to provide a positive environment where children can develop, belong and enjoy football without fear of being written off too soon.

Let’s remember why we all started coaching in the first place. As this is not the first time its happened. ❤️⚽️
