Oh how the summer is flying by 🏸👀☀️Soon enough badminton season will be starting once again and teams will be forming 🤩

If you are looking to get competitive this year, give us a shout! We currently have two teams in the Westmorland League (1st and 2nd division) but if the interest is there, who knows how many teams we’ll have 🫣

But it’s not summer rest for everyone! I would like to give a shout out to our players in The Super League ☀️🏸 representing Strickland! Strickly Smashing has faced quite a few challenges over the past few matches… commonly playing 2 ladies and 2 men against 4 men 🫣 nevertheless they don’t give up!
Big shout out to our players who have played in the Super League! They take Summer Club player of the week collectively (especially since we missed a few weeks 🤭😜 oops)

The summer club player of the week is someone who not been very consistent with showing up this summer but has done a hell of a lot of work behind the scenes 🏆Lauren🏆! Balancing so many different hobbies and still making time to manage responding to enquiries and being probably the most active club member from the committee deserves recognition 😍🎊

Hello Badminton lovers 🏸💕🏸! We’ve been a bit forgetful recently and missed last weeks post! Quite late with this weeks too! Oops 🤭🙏🏻
The day has come! We have had so much interest in our Summer Club that we’ve had to make the difficult decision to limit our (usually very welcoming) invitation.
As our summer club only runs on 2-3 courts, with such a big number of players, a high skill level gap means players are not getting enough games appropriate to them. It isn’t fair on any level of player.
For the time being we will no longer accept new members at the ‘beginner’ level.

However, we are looking at solutions! We don’t want to discourage new players! Therefore we are exploring the possibility of running beginner or coached sessions! We are open to suggestions! For now we will keep you updated!

On a more positive note, here is this weeks Summer club player of the week! The self proclaimed 🏆Murf🏆😂!!
Murf has recently taken over some of the responsibilities of running the summer club after a 3(?) month absence (uncool 👀 but glad to have you back) and after last club night he shared this message…

Although we’re posting a bit late this week the news are no less important🏸🏸🏸 As expected, our summer club attendance went up this week since we weren’t competing with the world cup! 🏆

Well it is safe to say that that the World Cup had an effect on club attendance this week 👀 But who can blame them! Hoping the numbers go back up next week 😍

The summer club player of the week is a bit different this time round. Rather than focusing on achievements on court or at the club, news has reached us that someone has passed their driving test 🚗🚗 and that certainly deserves some recognition ! So, the summer club player of the week is 🏆SAM🏆. The shuttle is no longer the only thing you’re driving! (Poor badminton pun) 🚗🏸
