EMERGING TALENT CENTRE I We are pleased to announce the dates for the Westmorland CFA Emerging Talent Centre Trials for the 2026/27 season.⚽

The Emerging Talent Centre aims to identify and support talented players, providing them with additional training opportunities while players can still play for their grassroots teams and/or school. The focus of the Emerging Talent Centre is on individual player development. The centre offers a 30 week training programme, games programme, strength and conditioning, goalkeeper training, Futsal and a variety of games formats including small sided games and festivals.

Please note for players who receive a place at the ETC there is no charge for subs for the programme - all places are free!

For the 26/27 season we will be running the following age groups:
U10, U12, U14 and U16.

The trials will take place on the following dates:

⚽️ U10 - Tuesday 28th July 4pm
Arrival - Trial 4:15pm-6pm

⚽️ U12 - Tuesday 28th July 6pm
Arrival - Trial 6:15pm-8pm

⚽️ U14 - Wednesday 29th July 4pm
Arrival - Trial 4:15pm-6pm

⚽️ U16 - Wednesday 29th July 6pm
Arrival - Trial 6:15pm-8pm

PAN-DISABILITY FOOTBALL I Yesterday morning we delivered a Pan-disability football session for students from Sandgate School, Kendal at Kendal Rugby Club. The morning included a carousel of activities and small sided games.

If any clubs are interested in setting up a disability team or recreational session for young people or adults then email: [email protected] for further information.

We also run free weekly Comets Pan-disability youth sessions on a Monday evening at the Phoenix Centre in Windermere. If you would like further information or to come along to a session then email: [email protected]

WOMENS I The second Over 30s Festival of the year in partnership with Cumberland FA took place yesterday at Dallam School 3G.
Westmorland & Grange Just Play, Calthwaite Ladies, HB10 and Westmorland Just Play took part with HB10 finishing as the overall winners.

Four Over 30s 5-a-side festivals are coming up for this summer at Penrith AFC 3G and Dallam School 3G ⚽

The dates for the festivals are as follows:

Sunday 12th July 12-3pm - Penrith FC 3G
Sunday 16th August 12-3pm - Dallam School 3G
Sunday 6th September 10am-1pm - Penrith FC 3G
Sunday 11th October 12-3pm - Dallam School 3G

⚽ We Need More Referees for the New Season! ⚽

Last season, the Kent Valley League and Westmorland League successfully covered football across every age group, from Under 8s right through to Division Four.

We want to do it all again this season — but we need your help!

There are still spaces available on upcoming referee courses, and we're looking for more local people to get involved and take up the whistle.

If you've ever thought about becoming a referee, now is the perfect time to register.

WOMENS AND GIRLS I Date confirmed for the next Equal Game Workshop⚽

Attendance of the Equal Game workshop is a pre-requisite to apply for the new Lioness Here to Play Fund to access funding up to £1500 to create new female teams, £500 to setup a female FA programme such as Wildcats or for funding up to £25,000 to develop female inclusive facilities. Please note the team fund closes on the 30th of September 2026.

Date: Wednesday 1st July
