🏏 Weekend Round-Up
A weekend of mixed fortunes for Kendal, featuring a thrilling one-wicket win for the 1st XI, cup success for the Women's 1st XI, and strong individual performances across the club.
1st XI – Edge a Thriller
The standout result of the weekend came in NL Division 1, where Kendal secured a dramatic 1-wicket victory over Garstang.
After Garstang posted 186-6, powered by Lahiru Madushanka's unbeaten 76, Kendal held their nerve in a tense chase to reach 188-9. Cole Abrahams led the way with a match-winning 65, supported by Brad Earl's 34. Madushanka also starred with the ball, claiming 5-49, but Kendal just got over the line thanks to a last wicket partnership of 13 between Kully Singh and Matt Jackson with Kully winning the game with a 6
Women's XI – Through in the National KO
The Women's 1st XI progressed to the next round of the National Knockout with a comfortable 8-wicket victory over Blackpool.
Restricting their opponents to 79-5, Kendal's bowlers set up the win before Niamh Muir's unbeaten 34 guided the chase, with Jenny Fallows adding 20 as Kendal reached 80-2.
2nd XI – Defeat at Silverdale
The 2nd XI fell to an 8-wicket defeat against Silverdale.
Kendal were bowled out for 176, with Mike Wild (36) and Zubair Khattak (26) making useful contributions. Silverdale responded strongly, reaching 177-2, thanks to Alistair James' unbeaten 86 and Jon Mason's 61.
3rd XI – Tough Day at Kirkby Lonsdale
The 3rd XI suffered a heavy 119-run defeat away to Kirkby Lonsdale.
The hosts piled up 256-6, with Niall Parkinson scoring an unbeaten century (102*) and Harry Cooke adding 86. Sean Garnett was the pick of the Kendal bowlers with an excellent 5-36.
In reply, Kendal were dismissed for 137, despite efforts from Ozaid Edwards (28) and Riley Berry (23). Kirkby's Dan Teasdale produced a remarkable spell, taking 9-54.
