On Monday/Tuesday this week, Kendal GC members Rosie Waller and Sue Howell won the Daily mail foursomes at St Pierre golf club in Wales. The competition is the largest amateur golf tournament in the UK with over 2,500 Ladies teams competing. The format consists of winning your own club competition then playing 7 knockout rounds to get to the finals where 16 teams contest the final.

Rosie and Sue beat Turnhouse from Scotland in the last 16. They then beat "The Worcestershire" in the Quarter finals, Rudding Park in the semi finals and in a very well contested final they beat Taunton and Pickeridge 3&2. After the presentation it was a long journey home for two very happy players and two very tired caddies (David and Guy), massive congrats to them both, the players that is, not the caddies!

Our ladies section held their open today there were 12 teams playing, 5 of them being visiting teams. The winners were: -

1st - Joyce Hartley (Kendal), Cheryl Dickinson (Kendal) and Diane Billington (Carus Green) - 81 points
2nd - Cherry Archer (Kendal), Sheena McDonald (Kendal) and Jo Tinsley (Appleby) - 77 points

Our visitors prize went to ladies from Cockermouth, Christine Brown, Joanna Hadfield and Janet Smith with 74 points

The Elizabethan Salver was won by Kendal Ladies team of 12 in a very close competition against teams from Appleby and Windermere at Appleby on Monday 1st September. Only 2 points separated the best seven nett scores across the three teams. The winning team was decided by going to an eighth card Judith Cantrell won the individual best nett with 70. The Ladies are especially pleased as this completes our sweep of all four of the one day inter-club trophies .
