Kendal Snowsports Club

Kendal Snowsports Club A charity run purely by volunteers. Formed to encorage and pass on our love of Snowsports for all. We are a purely voluntary organisation.

Formed as Kendal Ski club in 1984 after a meeting encoraged two hundred people each put in Β£10 to get things started and build their own slope and ski lodge on the side of the hill below Kendal Castle. In 1997 following a successful bid for a lottery grant, the slope was totally rebuilt using the then untried Snowflex matting system and then extended in 2004. The club was formed with the principle

of skiing for anyone who wants to have a go. This was, still is, and always will be, the foundation stone of the club. The only change has been to embrace Snowboarding into this ethos. The people who greet you in the lodge and take your money, hand out tokens and set up the equipment for you are all members who have volunteered, as are the ground staff, club officers and our highly-trained team of instructors. All monies are ploughed back into the club facilities. We all do it because at whatever level of ability, we all love skiing. The club's aim is to encourage anyone who wants to, to come and learn to ski.

Fabulous new ski racks 😁

Our brilliant maintenance team are working on through the summer and today set up the new ski rack for twin tip / freestyle skis in the lodge. ❀️

Boot warming moved and many adjustments for us to go back to in September as well as their full program of slope power washing, matting replacement, joinery and much much more.

Tuesday mornings are their key time and other days to fit around the teams working lives.

Message if you want to come along and help the volunteer team

A fantastic bank holiday weekend for several of our Kendal Snowsports Club race team members, who were selected from last October's English Schools Ski Association Finals to attend a three-day training camp at Swadlincote. πŸŽΏβ˜€οΈ

Representing a number of Kendal schools, Ran, Monty, Archie, Islo and Obie earned their places through their performances at the ESSKIA Finals and spent the weekend developing their skills under the guidance of some excellent coaches.

Despite the hot weather, the athletes worked incredibly hard over all three days, embracing every challenge, learning new techniques, and taking in everything the coaches had to offer.

A huge thank you to ESSKIA, Swadlincote Ski Centre, and the coaches from Precise Racing for delivering such a fantastic weekend of coaching, learning, and fun.

Well done to Ran, Monty, Archie, Islo and Obie for their effort, attitude, and commitment throughout the camp. The future looks bright for Kendal Snowsports Club! πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

πŸ’™ Water Safety Reminder for All Families πŸ’™

Our thoughts are with the families and friends affected by the heartbreaking loss of three young boys who tragically drowned during the recent hot weather in the UK.

As temperatures rise, it’s important that we all take a moment to speak with our children, family members and friends about staying safe around water.

⚠️ Please remember:

Even when the weather is warm, water temperatures can remain dangerously cold.
Sudden immersion in cold water can cause cold water shock, making it difficult to swim or breathe.

Rivers, lakes, reservoirs and other open water can have hidden dangers, strong currents and unexpected depths.

🚨 If you see someone in trouble in the water:
βœ… Call 999 immediately.
βœ… Stay out of the water yourself.
βœ… Throw something that floats, such as a football or empty plastic bottle, to help them stay afloat until emergency services arrive.

Please take a few minutes to have this conversation with your children and loved ones.

Raising awareness could help prevent another tragedy.
