A win for the 1sts against Holme yesterday helped in no small part by five wickets for Ben Harvey (5-36), which included four wickets in a single over - alas no hat-trick as part of this.

Chasing 115, Sedgwick's Eddy Galloway and Matt Salisbury got off to a positive start with Aaron Lomas (44*) top scoring for the home side before reaching their target in the 44th over.

The 2s were away at Shireshead and batting first posted 100 - plenty of double figure starts with Liam Hogan (20) top scoring, followed by John Wright (19) and Jim Bailey (18).

Defending the total, wickets were shared by Cam Hankey (3-22) and the Sanday double act - Benji (2-18) and Paul (2-30) - but Shireshead eventually knocked off the winning runs in the 37th over.

What do I know about weather forecasting? Apparently nothing, and it turned out to be a lovely afternoon for cricket made even better with wins for Sedgwick's 1s and 2s.

Winning the toss at Carnforth, Jonny Matthews asked the home side to bat with the total set at 140 from their 45 overs. Tom Ridley (4-27) and Matthews (3-33) the main wicket takers.

In reply there were decent contributions from all Sedgwick betters, primarily Matt Salisbury (31), Aaron Lomas (27), Pat Lockwood (25*) and Mike Robinson (21), with the target passed in the 30th over.

In the 2nds game at Sedgwick, Vickerstown were restricted to just 55 all out in 19.5 overs with Cam Hankey in great form with 6-20, and Sanday senior and junior accounting for the other wickets.

Vickerstown's quick bowlers accounted for Sedgwick's openers; coming in at three, Tom Willacy looked in great form before falling to a fine long-on catch on 26, with Ali Howell knocking-off the winning runs in the 17th over.

Everyone at Sedgwick Cricket Club would like to wish our own June Dalzell a very happy 90th birthday! June continues to be the cornerstone of SCC and has been a passionate member of the club for many years. She has always gone above and beyond for our club, supporting all our teams come rain or shine. Her cricket teas are well renowned and I think you can all agree that she's kept us well fed over the years!

We know that there will have been countless special moments over the years. However, a favourite highlight has to be when she made her club debut, going out to bat with granddaughter Amy during a softball game against Dalton CC in 2024 during our women's innagural season. The moment was both touching and inspiring - proving that cricket really is a game for everyone.

June, you are a true Sedgwick legend. Wishing you all the best on this special occasion.
Love from everyone at SCC 💚🥂
