We were delighted to welcome Sir Humphry Wakefield back to Sedgwick CC this afternoon.

The Wakefield family were once owners of Sedgwick House which overlooks the ground, and Sir Humphry has generously donated £2,000 to our fundraising appeal, money that will be used to help with the purchase of the land adjacent to the main playing area.

This land was once part of the cricket club grounds and we're hoping to be able to buy it back and return the playing area to it's original size and oval shape.

The Sharples family had a day at Lords yesterday, watching England v Pakistan.

Sedgwick U13 player Robin has been saving up and bought himself a shirt with Archer on the back. They happened to be passing the ground later in the evening when Jofra was coming out to get into his taxi. He was in a hurry and wouldn’t stop for a photo.

Fast forward to Notting Hill carnival this morning, and look who chased Robin down the street to compliment him on his new shirt!

This Thursday, 3rd September, we are delighted to welcome a team from Watsonian Cricket Club, Edinburgh, for a friendly fixture.

The game has been organised by former Sedgwick CC player Laurie Cox who now plays at Watsonian CC.

Play is scheduled to start at 2:30pm at Sedgwick CC, and the bar will be open throughout the afternoon - all welcome to come along!

Morning all - everyone good? It's a grey old Saturday and potential for a bit of the wet stuff later, but fingers crossed that we'll get today's games played.

Our 1st XI welcome Haverigg to Sedgwick CC for their Division 1 fixture, whilst the 2nd XI head over to Walney Island for their game against Division 2 league leaders Vickerstown.

Both games start at 1pm. As always, the bar will be open at Sedgwick - all welcome to come along and support.

Well done to Sedgwick CC Women’s & Girls team in yesterday’s Super 8s Hardball finals day at Longridge CC.

They won against Penwortham in the semi to earn a place in the final against Morecambe Ladies.

And it was Morecambe who won that game, but runners-up for Sedgwick is a great achievement. Well done to all our players!

Unfortunately yesterday's results didn't go in Sedgwick's favour with losses at home for the 1st XI against Appleby Eden CC, and away for the 2nd XI at Milnthorpe.

There's already a win under the belt for Sedgwick CC this weekend as the Womens team won their Cumbria Softball League game against Holme Women last night, with a winning margin of 61 runs.

Another lovely day, a shade cooler than recent weeks but pretty much perfect conditions for cricket. Two Westmorland Cricket League games for our teams today:
