Aquatic Plant Works - Wednesday 9th September Hunts Farm, Shemmings Pond, Layer Marney & Silver End Front

Please be advised that a contractor will be visiting and working at the following waters during the morning of Wednesday 9th September beginning at Hunts Farm at around 08:30 and are likely to conclude at around 2pm at Silver End Front Pit.

1 Hunts Farm
2 Layer Marney 2 & 3
3 Shemmings Pond
4 Silver End Front Please Pit

Although the waters will remain open to members we would ask for your assistance in allowing the contractor access swims that are adjacent to lily pads, if you are on site and fishing next to lily pads you may be asked to temporarily move or relocate whilst the works are carried out.

Access to Seabrooks Reservoir - updated post

Some of you may be aware that there are currently emergency water main works being undertaken in Church Lane. It is currently possible to access Seabrooks from the Main Road junction despite the road closure signs. Church Lane is still blocked beyond its junction with Rectory Lane.

Keep-nets

We have been keeping a close eye on the possibility of lifting the current, temporary keep-net ban. This was considered at our most recent committee meeting and members probably wont be surprised, that due to the ongoing low water levels across club waters, the temporary ban on keep-nets will remain in place.

It will be considered again at our next meeting toward the end of September, we thank you for your support and understanding whilst we continue to monitor the unusually low water levels.

A member was fishing Layer Marney 2 on Sunday 23rd August and left behind a black rod cover containing two feeder rod sections. He was in the bottom end swim between Layer Marney 1 and 2.

Members, please take extra care whilst on the bank, particularly if you are thinking about using cooking equipment, the risk of fire remains extremely high, we would strongly recommend that where possible you avoid the use of naked flames.

The club match scheduled for Sunday 16th August has been cancelled.

Silver End Front Pit will, therefore, be open for members to fish as normal.

PLEASE READ THE RULES
The KDAA prides itself on being a friendly club and not one for bailiffing in an officious manner.
We do however have rules that evolved over the years to protect our precious fish stocks and govern how we want to members to behave to make fishing KDAA waters a pleasant and rewarding experience.
These rules are laid out in the handbook at no small cost, but it appears some members have never read them or choose to ignore them. This seems to apply to long standing members and not just new members.
We recognise and appreciate that the vast majority of our members consistently demonstrate adherence to club rules, but regrettably there are a minority of members who do not.
Examples are: -
• The most frequent offence, rods with baits in the water left unattended. We have even retrieved a rod and reel from one of our lakes.
• Fish being unhooked whilst laying on the gravel. Unhooking mats not being used.
• Fishing with three rods
• Casting over the 50% mark into an area being fished by another angler.
• A Bait boat used.
• Smoking cannabis. Prescriptions for medical cannabis cannot include smoking that is illegal.
• Sharing unhooking mat and landing net between two anglers, each with two rods.
• Not securing gates

So, please check the rules, they are in the handbook and on the website. You will be informed by email and Facebook of any changes during the year.
