Brian Lang Memorial Game at Kelso Cricket Club

A brilliant day at Kelso Cricket Club yesterday as we hosted the annual Brian Lang Memorial Game. It was a fantastic match played in exactly the right spirit, with the Kelso team coming out on top after a great effort from everyone involved.

Shedden Park was buzzing, it was wonderful to see the club so busy and to welcome Brian’s family for this special occasion.

A huge thank you to Steven Robson and Ian Bonnington for the barbecue.

A fitting tribute, a great game and a proud day for the club.

Brian Lang Memorial Game - Saturday 29th August

On Saturday, we host the annual Brian Lang Memorial Game, held in honour of a much‑loved man who gave so much to Kelso Cricket Club and to our community.

We look forward to welcoming a Kelso Laddie team as they take on a select Kelso Cricket Club side.

The game starts at 1.30pm, and everyone is warmly invited to come along, remember Brian and enjoy an afternoon of cricket played in great spirit.

Kelso CC First XI - Invitation Day, Saturday 22nd August

Kelso First XI rounded off the season in style on Invitation Day, delivering a confident and composed win against Leith Fab in front of our guests, sponsors, families and friends. It was a brilliant occasion on and off the field - a celebration of cricket, community and the commitment shown by this young First XI throughout the year.

Leith Fab won the toss and chose to bat first, but Kelso’s bowlers and fielders produced a superb collective effort from the outset. Pressure was applied early, chances were taken and momentum never really slipped.

The fielding performance matched the bowling intensity, with sharp work across the park and four excellent catches from Murray Jackson, each arriving at key moments to keep Kelso firmly in control. Leith Fab were bowled out for 151.

Kelso’s reply started shakily with two early wickets, but the innings soon settled thanks to a composed partnership between Mark Henderson and Josh Gibson.

Kelso crossed the line with confidence, sealing a memorable win and showcasing exactly what this young side is capable of. The belief and momentum built this season will carry strongly into 2027.

The celebrations continued into the evening with the Senior Awards, a fitting way to close the season.

A much‑deserved recognition of a captain who has led from the front with runs, wickets and unwavering dedication week in, week out.

A huge thank‑you to the team from P&A Catering, who provided excellent food throughout the day and looked after everyone so well. And to Kimberly Brown, whose performance rounded off the evening beautifully and brought the First XI season to a celebratory close.

A big weekend ahead at Kelso Cricket Club!

This evening we kick things off with a Girls Festival at Shedden Park from 6pm, where we’re delighted to welcome St Boswells, Tillside and Bass Rock. It would be fantastic to see plenty of home support for our young Kelso team.

Tomorrow marks the final match of the season for our First XI as we host Invitation Day, welcoming our sponsors and guests to Shedden Park. After the game, we’ll also hold our senior presentations to bring the season to an end. We’re also delighted to welcome the wonderful Kim Brown, who will be singing us into the evening and helping us round off the season in real style.

A great way to round off the summer - we hope to see many of you there.

Kelso CC vs Carlton 3 - Saturday 15th August

A tough day at Shedden Park yesterday as Kelso were beaten by Carlton 3 by 9 wickets.

Runs were hard to come by for the home side, but Kyle Jackson stood out with a determined innings to finish as Kelso’s top scorer.

A big thank you to Penny and Alan Oliver for kindly sponsoring the match. At the end of the game, they presented Kyle Jackson with the Kelso Man of the Match award for his efforts.

A challenging result, but we stay positive as we move on to the final game of the season next weekend.
