🎾 Fantastic French Open Doubles Fundraiser! 🎾

A fantastic French Open Doubles Fundraiser was enjoyed by all, with 16 players taking part in a fun and competitive format. The event consisted of two round-robin groups, with the winners of each group progressing to the final. Matches were played over 20 minutes, ensuring plenty of tennis and excitement throughout the evening.

The final saw Bronwyn and Paul take on Kate and Verity, with Bronwyn and Paul emerging victorious by 5–3 in a closely contested match. Congratulations to all four finalists!

A huge thank you to Verity for organising a delicious spread, including a wonderful cheese and meat platter, quiche, fresh fruit, and ice cream. A true chef extraordinaire! 👏🍓🧀🍨

Special thanks also to Kate and Lesley for organising the format, conducting the draw, and beautifully decorating the clubhouse. Your hard work helped make the day such a success.

A fantastic day at Broomlands Primary School as part of the Learn to Lead Tennis with Miss-Hits programme. Since the start of the school year, we have been mentoring the Primary 7 girls and running lunchtime clubs for primary 1 to 3 girls. Today they delivered tennis taster sessions for all of the girls from Primary 1 to Primary 5.

Across 6 sessions, 72 girls took part, with the 9 leaders using a station-based approach featuring 8 different skills stations for everyone to try.

Congratulations to junior members, Edward Murray, Oliver Murray and Maisie Murray who represented the borders at the Tennis Scotland Inter-District event. Coaches Lesley and Kate were there as captains of the team alongside Ali McCulloch and Callum Simpson from Earlston Tennis Club

Well done to the entire borders squad and congratulations to all of the players who were selected. It’s a huge honour to represent your district and we hope you all had a fantastic time.

Congratulations David Laing, very well deserved 👏

Congratulations to Tennis Borders Honorary Life Member, David Laing on being awarded an MBE for services to sport in the King's New Years Honours! 👏

For over five decades, David has always gone the extra mile (sometimes literally, when he walked 7k miles for Cancer Research UK very recently!) for sport across the Borders, and particularly for Tennis Borders.

You will be hard pressed to find a role that David hasn't volunteered his time for over the years, including serving as Chair of the Borders Disability Sports Group for 25 years and as President of Tennis Borders.

David has always passionately championed, represented and promoted junior tennis across the region and his efforts have been invaluable for securing funding to strengthen tennis facilities, programmes and creating more opportunities for kids to pick up a racket and learn the game.

His energy, enthusiasm and great humour has made him a popular figure within the tennis community. Always on hand at local events to encourage, support, help out, and crack a joke or two. Many a Borders player has sampled his legendary 'goo' at the junior confined....it's good for the backhand, he claims....

Truly a force of nature, thank you David for all your hard work and dedication across tennis and Borders sport more widely over the years. Your contributions have ensured countless youngsters have enjoyed and stayed within sport throughout their lives, which is a legacy you should be very proud of.

We hope you take a moment to enjoy your thoroughly deserved award, although don't suspect you'll be putting your feet up anytime soon!
