Otley Town 3–3 Oakworth Reserves
A disappointing start saw Oakworth 2–0 down inside the opening 25 minutes, with two sloppy goals giving Otley the early advantage.
But after that, Oakworth started getting back to the basics, playing some simple football and showing great character to pull it back to 2–2 by half time via substitute Luke Ingram after Connor Mcstriker got injured early.
After the break Oaky piled the pressure and 55 minutes in, our MOTM and flying winger Jake Thompson put the Oaky 3–2 in front and from then on… well, the game descended into a bit of disarray.
Yellow cards were being produced for fun, with manager Brad Mather even receiving one — completely uncharacteristically, of course, given what a calming influence he is on the sidelines! 😂
The sin-bin rule appeared to be optional, two questionable challenges went unpunished, and somehow the offside rule also seemed to disappear as Otley found their equaliser.
A quote from the ref “ I like you, so I won’t send you off”… followed by blowing early because the opposition sideline shouted too loud at him resulted in the game getting blown up 10 minutes early! 🤷♂️😂
Soap sudded Will Lee then gate cracked the full time team talk in all his glory having been very excited to get a warm shower….pay the bills Will you can have them at home too.
Keiran Coleman receives the highest fine of the year £46 for passing his driving test, buying a car, getting insured but catching a lift because he only has a paper license.
Jokes aside, once again a new group of lads stepped up and did themselves proud. We genuinely feel we deserved to sneak all three points, but we’ll take the draw and move on.
A big thank you to Otley Town — both teams were on the receiving end of some decisions today, and we look forward to the return fixture.
