🏅 What is the PKA Junior Reward Scheme?
When junior members join KickboxUK, they receive a blue reward book as part of their PKA membership. This gets stamped or signed at every class they attend and work well in — it's a simple but powerful way of recognising effort and commitment over time.

The first reward milestone comes after just 15 weeks of training, earning the Bronze Standard and a bronze medal. From there, juniors work their way through two more medals and five trophies — all included as part of the scheme at no extra cost.
So why do we do it? Because we know that for young people, being recognised for showing up and trying their best matters. The reward scheme isn't about being the fastest or the most talented — it's about consistency, positive attitude, and growth. Values that go far beyond martial arts.

Our next PKA Interclub Tournament takes place on Saturday 3rd October 2026 at Belper Leisure Centre!

This is a fantastic opportunity to do something different from your usual club training and put everything you’ve been learning on the mats into practice.

Designed especially for beginners, the tournament offers a safe, friendly and supportive environment. You’ll be surrounded by encouraging coaches, teammates and fellow students who all want to see you do your best.

With categories for juniors and adults, including Semi Contact, Light Contact and Padwork, there’s something for everyone.

You don’t have to be the most experienced or the most confident. Taking part is about challenging yourself, building confidence, gaining experience and having fun!

🥋 The Story Behind Your Belt: Why PKA Makes Us Different

Well done again to everyone who attended and passed the recent regional grading.. . . . . Ever wondered where "PKA" on our club branding actually comes from? It's not just a badge — it's nearly 50 years of history.

The Professional Karate Association (PKA) was founded in the US in 1974 by Mike Anderson, and Don and Judy Quine. That September, they staged the first-ever World Championships in Los Angeles — the event that introduced the world to what we now call kickboxing, evolving out of full-contact karate.

Within months, Mike Haig (the same person who still grades you for your PKA Belt) brought that same discipline across the Atlantic and established PKA-Kickboxing here in the UK, built from the ground up as genuine kickboxing, taught properly, safely, and for everyone.

That's the tradition your Coaching Team has now carried for over 20 and it's why every KickboxUK class, whether it's a 4-year-old on their first pads session or an adult working towards their black belt, is rooted in real, quality-assured kickboxing. Not a watered-down version, not a mixed bag of styles picked up along the way. The real thing, delivered with genuine care for our community.
