In the first lockdown I decided to build myself a carriage bow. I have built quite a few over the years but, as a motorcycle rider I thought I ought to have one myself.
After building in there came the question of how to carry a bow and arrows on the bike so in the current lockdown I decided to build the bow tube to carry the bow and arrows using stuff I had knocking around.
Thought it might interest people. Some might even fancy a carriage bow.

The finished Egyptian bow at part draw and full draw. It looks superb and at 40 lbs will reach clout distance and more with the right arrows.
Noticeably faster than a longbow of the same draw weight and materials.
A really smooth draw and quick response.
Clearly the reflex, reflex design has a lot of merits and does not over stress the materials in the bow.
This one is heading to a customer in Germany .

Phil Rees shooting a bow made from drawings in an old archery book by a Mr Stemmler.
It is a static recurve bow. Only 40 lbs but reaching clout distance easily.

The longbow is my own Osage carriage bow that Phil is shooting. You can see the two halves on top of the gate.

It is a wonderful bow to shoot, I made it so that I can take a longbow on a motorbike!!

We are always playing around with ideas and designs and some are really quite interesting and challenging.

Always something new to try in bow making, even after more than 28 years of making them commercially.

Working on an Egyptian style bow. A reflex reflex design dating back 3500 ago.
The originals being a laminate of horn, wood and sinews. Mine is hickory, purpleheart and ipe.
The final photo shows the bow when tillered, the bottom limb was over stiff to start with.
I will add photos of the finished bow soon.
