Staffordshire county Racketlon team fought hard today against tough opponents. A strong squash show from Yorkshire in the final match was too much for the tennis. A great match and a great day.

Staffordshire and UK Racketlon are delighted that Complete ICT have again decided to continue to support the Staffordshire Open. They will again be providing all junior entries with a free racket of their choice to take away with them. Managing Director Tim Shufflebotham had this to say “we love the concept of Racketlon and how it combines the 4 sports. We are passionate about junior participation in sport and feel this should be made more accessible for all. We are delighted to once again support the event and provide rackets for all juniors as a prize for taking part”. Thank you Tim it is very kind!

2022 World Champions - O45s Team
Duncan Stahl, Jo Shelley, Ed Westmacott, Stuart Rank, Jon Foulds, & Peter Barton.

It is a tricky task to defend a team title, particularly in the Vets division, but the GB O45s were a phenomenal force from the get-go. They erupted from Group B (a four team box league) from which only the winner would play for gold, coming past tricky tests, particularly from the Indians. This set up a final against Austria, which saw the Brits come from behind after the TT to have a dominant lead into the tennis. However, some spirited tennis from Thomas Wagner had raised the possibility of the Austrians nicking it on the tennis (as has happened before to British teams), but a nerveless performance from Jo Shelley left Ed & Stuart a target of 2 points to seal the title.
