The Mhairi Holms Opening Bonspiel took place on Wednesday 25th September with a full compliment of 16 members taking to the ice for 2 x 4 end games. At half time, the winning teams skipped by James R and Andy C switched rinks to battle it out for the win. Following a strong start, the team of James R, Alan, Rhona & Margaret emerged as victors of the first trophy of the season. The club was also joined on the night by our newest member Liz, welcome to the club! 🥌 🏆

The first round of the Leggat Cup was played on Wednesday night, with a Carswell Carswell showdown taking place. James R took an early lead, but a steal of 5 sealed the win for James H’s team.

James R was approached for comment after the game, as he missed two open draws to give the 5 away, however he has not yet responded amid tense speculation he may be sacked by the team 🥌

The club held our Opening Bonspiel last night at 6pm. The winning team was James R, Rhona and Marilyn 🥌

The Cowdenhall Trophy concluded last Wednesday evening. Despite some strong starts by Uplawmoor, Neilston were able to hold out for the win, finishing with 75 shots.

Afterwards, both clubs agreed the new format worked well, and hopefully the traditional meal can return after the final bonspiel next year 🥌

Neilston Curling this week:
Monday 6pm: Presidents Prizes. Normally our closing bonspiel, this is being played earlier this year so our president can attend.
Wednesday 6pm: Greenacres Salver Smith V R Robinson. With both teams yet to gain any points, this is sure to be a lively game.
Friday 6pm: Ramshead Semi Final
