Heartbreak in Coventry - National Finals round up

Game 1 vs London Fruitbats saw an absolute slugfest between arguably to the top 2 sides in the country, Fruitbats showed everyone why they're the favorites by punishing every small mistake the Bears made and taking a commanding double digit lead into the last 10 mins.
Game over? Hell naw! After a furious late comeback, the Bears showed why they have been undefeated all season and brought it back to a single score before a fantastic play by Fruitbats no14 in the dying seconds sealed the win. Fruitbats showing why they were the eventual champions.

Game 2 vs Salford Scorpions - 3rd/4th place playoff saw the Bears take a dominant victory with plenty of field time for everyone.

And with that, the season concludes for all our age groups in what was probably the best season in the clubs history.
We would like to thank all our unwavering travelling support, club volunteers, players and coaches.

We are taking a few weeks off for a well deserved rest amongst coaches, players and parents. See you all for the Winter League! 🏈🐻

Everyone at the Bears family would like to wish the best of luck to our u14 flag side who are travelling to Coventry this weekend for the BAFA YFFL National finals.

With what is arguably the biggest game(s) in the clubs history, our squad has already exceeded all expectations and secured a place as one of the UK's best teams.

With that said we don't give a flying roar. Bring it on πŸ’ͺ🏼🏈🐻

Weekend recap! 🏈

Huge thanks to Fife All Stars American Flag Football Team for hosting our u14 flag team for a friendly match against their u17s. Closely contested game between Scottish champions! Great prep for both teams ahead of the national finals next month.

Regional Round-Up 🐻🏈

Heartbreak for the Baby Bears (U11s) as they miss out on the National Finals by one score.
Our youngest and loudest team got off to a flying start with a close hard-fought win over the Dunfermline Kings, setting up a winner takes all clash with the Sheffield Giants, Two scores up with five minutes to play, the Bears could almost smell the Nationals... unfortunately, the Giants had other ideas and snatched victory with a furious late comeback.

That left a must-win game against the excellent Salford Scorpions, who showed exactly why they're one of the favorites. The Bears fought hard, but the tank was empty, bringing their season to a close. A tough ending, but another fantastic year and plenty to build on for 2027.

Thankfully our Teenage Bears (U14s) had no interest in drama. Facing the Sheffield Giants, Glasgow Tigers, and NE Academy Rebels, the Bears produced three excellent performances, topped the group, and punched their ticket to the National Finals.

One team leaves heartbroken. One team leaves National Finals bound.

A huge thank you to Border City Centurions American Football for hosting a brilliant day, and to all of our opponents yesterday - Kings Youth American Football Club, Sheffield Giants American Football Club, Salford Scorpions Flag Football, North East Academy of American Football and our fellow Scots Fife All Stars American Flag Football Teamall stars who's U17 squad also booked their slot in the national finals

And finally, a massive shout-out to our coaches, volunteers, parents, and travelling supporters.

Started from the bottom now we're here... πŸ†

1 year ago our U14s finished dead last in the whole of the UK, turning up every game with 5-6 players for other teams to put up cricket scores against us but not once did we forfeit or give up.

This years u14 team effective saw 3 groups coming together - last years returning players, those moving up from u11 and a bunch of ex players returning to the club.
The result 8-0 Scottish Champs and one of the top ranked teams in the UK.

The success hasn't came overnight and doesnt reflect the behind the scenes effort from the coaches, players, parents and travelling support.

Next up is UK Regional playoffs with a chance to qualify for National Finals, no matter the result this group of players has already outperformed last year!!! 🐻🏈πŸ’ͺ🏼

As our season ends we would like to express our gratitude to our coaches, volunteer, parents and players. Our youngest team in the club are our building blocks for the future and we could not ask for a better bunch of kids (most of the time).

Next up is UK regional finals with our friends Kings Youth American Football Club who have also qualified and will join us in representing Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
