Centurions Junior Hockey Centurions Junior Hockey is a joint project between Anchor Mens and Ferguslie Ladies hockey clubs.

We offer a fun, friendly atmosphere for anyone aged 10-14 who already plays or wants to try field hockey for the first time.

Well done to the Centurions who braved the biting cold to play this morning. A 5-3 defeat at the hands of Ardrossan Hockey Club Junior Section but I think everyone enjoyed it. Some great goals, lovely interplay and some staunch defending.

Should all be very proud of the way they played. Thanks to the chauffeurs for bringing them down and cheering on from the sidelines (once the caffeine had got into the bloodstream 😉).

Last training session on Tuesday so hopefully see you there.

Great to have eleven Centurions back on the pitch last night (in the sunshine!) after the Easter holidays. Hopefully the nice weather continues for the rest of this block.

One of these days I will remember to take some action pictures to post here! 😁

The freezing temperatures put the kaibosh on the last couple of sessions so this week we traded hockey sticks for laser guns and had an end of year battle royale at Laser Station @ Xsite. No idea who won 😁 but it was good fun! Hope everyone enjoyed it.

We look forward to starting up training again in 2023 but until then have a happy and safe Christmas and all the best for the new year.

Bit of a chilly session tonight but everyone put in a shift to stay warm. Some really nice play and can see improvement all over the pitch.

A belated training update from Tuesday evening. The kids were practicing dribbling and jab-tackling. Then, in an unusual twist a challenge was thrown out to Ferguslie Ladies for a game. The ankle-biters held their own against "the big people" and managed to score first with a speedy run and shot from Lyall. The ladies piled on the pressure and got the equaliser with a few minutes remaining.

Some back to the wall defence from Centurions kept it even. The ladies nearly snuck it at the end but the umpire blew for time just before the shot was taken (what a shame 😈 )

Good morning had by everyone at the U12s tournament at Clydesdale Hockey Club

Centurions played well and got into the swing of things after losing their first game. Ultimately P6, W1, D2, L3. The forecast torrential rain and howling winds didn't materialise which was an added bonus!

Some great play by all and never let the heads go down in the games they lost. To quote Alex Ferguson - "vewy pwoud of my pwayers"

Thanks to everyone for transportation and cheering them on. I hope they all enjoyed the experience. Certainly based on Ewan's goal celebrations he was living the dream 🤣

Good session tonight ahead of Centurions first tournament this weekend. Last two weeks have been spent working hard to improve communication and teamwork. Hopefully we can take that into the games at the weekend. Well done everyone.

Well what a way to finish the latest training block - Centurions vs Parents/Grandparents/Guardians. Thanks to all the adults who put themselves forward for a potential showing-up by the whippersnappers. In the end I think the older generation held their own, but I'll guarantee they're paying for it this morning.

Was a good bit of fun and we look forward to doing it again. Enjoy your summer break and we'll see you all soon.

Another great evening of junior hockey last night. 15 Centurions in attendance and working hard as always. Continued to work on ball control, dribbling and passing.

A hard fought game ended with honours even at 1-1 but plenty of chances at both ends.
