Friday night saw our 24/25 awards night take place and what a night it was!

Congrats to all the big winners:
Top Goalscorer - Ben Blair
Goal of the Season - Josh Jackson
Players’ Player of the Year - Kieran Love
Player of the Year - Kieran Love

Most will be aware that we have taken the decision not to continue next season. We set out over 2 years ago with the intention of getting mates back together and playing football, which we achieved. We are delighted to have played a part in getting numerous players back into the West of Scotland pyramid, and more at a really good amateur level. More than this we saw new bonds form and created memories for life together.

A massive thanks to everyone that’s supported us in any way over the past 2 seasons, it doesn’t go unnoticed.

Gryffe vs Southside

A depleted & majorly hungover 12 man Gryffe squad looked to get revenge against a Southside team unbeaten in their last 8 games. The boys were celebrating our Oliver Campbell winning the QFC Cruiserweight Title last night, congrats Ollie!

Disastrous start for Gryffe who quickly conceded to find themselves behind. Southside followed this up by converting another 2 chances to race into a 3-0 start.

Gryffe missed a host of chances to get themselves back in the game and it was looking like one of those days, until Southside decided to leave 4 up the park for a Gryffe corner. Mcinnes spotted this and took full advantage as he drove in a low ball which was met by Fraser Lee who sweeped home brilliantly!

HT: 1-3

Gryffe weren’t messing about and came out fast. Ben Blair managed to get a goal to make it 3-2 and game on!

Southside reacted well and scored a good goal to give them a 4-2 lead.

Gryffe pressure was relentless and it paid as Ben Blair poked home another corner to go 4-3.

Gryffe got themselves all the way back as Ben Blair pulled down a Kieran Love diag brilliantly and swept home for 4-4!

The game looked to be heading for a draw but Gryffe wanted more. With less than a minute left on the clock Ben Blair slid a pass through for Thomas Mallinder who got across his man and won it for Gryffe!

FT: 5-4

A top performance from Gryffe who got what they deserved. Relentless pressure finally paid off securing the 3 points in dramatic style. Great resilience from the group with such low numbers.

Gryffe vs Strathclyde

Return to league action and Gryffe were looking to build on last weeks cup victory!

It only took 9 minutes before a great Telford corner was finished by Ben Blair to give Gryffe the lead.

Telford then became goalscorer as a nice interchange with him and Gillanders made it 2.

Ben Blair then brilliantly picked out the onrushing Jamie Love to make it 3-0 in 23 minutes.

Blair continued to pull strings as this time he set Brodie Gillanders free who rounded the goalkeeper and finished well from a tight angle.

Adam Telford delivered another teasing ball and Kieran Love got on the end of it to nod home for 5!

HT: 5-0

Gryffe didn’t let up and were relentless in their pressure. Jonny Lee found Harry Mcinnes whose long range effort found a way into the corner.

Just 2 minutes later Jude Jackson latched onto a loose ball and thundered home a brilliant strike from range.

54 on the clock and it was 8 as Fraser Lee played a brilliant one two with Brodie Gillanders and then finished well!

Another brilliant bit of play this time between Mcinnes and Kieran Love saw Gryffe grab a 9th as Mcinnes got his second!

Mcinnes then turned provider as he slid through Jamie love to finish well for his second!

Gryffe hit double figures for the first time as Josh Mcfadyen finished brilliantly into the side netting from the edge of the box.

Jamie Love capped off a perfect performance by latching onto a Ben Blair pass and grabbing his hat trick!

FT: 11-0

A ruthless performance from Gryffe who make it back to back wins! Great performances across the board with everyone playing their part.

Drumchapel vs Gryffe

Cup action for Gryffe today, against opposition from the division above. Gryffe are finally back closer to full strength after the Christmas break.

It was Drumchapel who took the lead after a good finish, and it wasn’t long before they doubled their lead with another cracking finish.

Gryffe were then punished once more after another Drumchapel move gave them a 3-0 lead.

Gryffe continued to dominate possession just missing the final ball until a Mcinnes delivery was headed square by Kieran Love for Louis Jeffrey to nod home.

HT: 3-1

Gryffe had it all to do but started on the front foot creating chances.

The pressure paid off as Ben Blair made a bursting run and got in behind, he composed himself and then scooped the ball over the goalkeeper with a delightful d**k!

Gryffe got all the way back as one of Brodie Gillanders threatening runs saw him through on goal to slide home for 3-3!

Mcinnes and Jeffrey were dominating the midfield and had drum penned in for the full half. Jude Jackson came closest after a brilliant curling effort rattled the bar.

FT: 3-3

Penalties to decide this one and with gryffe’s poor previous record from the spot a big effort was required.

Debutant goalkeeper Daniel Moncrieff stepped up and delivered 2 outstanding penalty saves, with Kieran Love, Jude Jackson and Harry Mcinnes finishing brilliantly for Gryffe.

It was all over as Drumchapel player blasted over to send Gryffe through.

Great character from the boys to come back from 3-0 down and progress. Gryffe will look to build on this and put together a positive run.

Gryffe vs The North AFC

West cup action against The North, who are currently flying high in the league above with 4 wins from 5!

Gryffe started well without creating lots, and were punished for this as the north scored 2 quick fire goals to rush into a 2-0 lead.

Almost immediately Alex Quinn was brought down and won a penalty. Louis Jeffrey stepped up and dispatched well to get Gryffe back in the game.

Jeffrey then looked to have levelled the game before half time, but his goal was ruled out for a foul in the build up. Again Gryffe were punished as the north added a third on the stroke of half time.

HT: 1-3

Gryffe changed the game plan to try and get in behind The North’s defence and this immediately worked. Goalkeeper Oliver Campbell found Alex Quinn over the top who d**ked the goalie perfectly!

Gryffe were then in again as Alex Quinn slipped in Thomas Mallinder who finished perfectly through the goalkeepers legs to draw the game level.

Only 10 minutes into the half Gryffe had a fourth! Callum Gilmour picked up the ball 25 yards out and unleashed a rocket into the top right corner to send Gryffe wild!

Only 3 minutes later it was 5-3! Alex Quinn had his shot hit the post and Mallinder was on hand to finish!

Gryffe began to control the rest of the game & were to add a 6th as Gilmour spotted the goalkeeper off his line and he finished to seal the win!

FT: 6-3

A 5 star 2nd half performance from gryffe to come from 3-1 down to win 6-3! Tremendous performances all round with Gryffe continuing their winning run!

Gryffe vs Blantyre

After a week off due to a bye in the cup gryffe returned to action against Blantyre. It was 3rd vs 4th in the league so was sure to be a great spectacle!

Gryffe started well creating chances with Mcinnes pulling strings early. The first goal came as Ben Blair made a great dart in behind and got in to finish brilliantly!

Just 1 minute later Blantyre responded with a well worked goal.

With 21 minutes on the clock, Telford picked up the ball and slid a perfect pass in behind for Blair again, he got across his man and finished expertly for his and gryffe’s 2nd!

Mcinnes then played an inch perfect through ball to the onrushing Alex Quinn to latch onto before the goalkeeper who brought him down for a penalty! Louis Jeffrey stepped up and never looked like missing to make it 3-1!

Pinball in the box saw Blantyre get a 2nd goal on the 35th minute as they fired home against the run of play.

Gryffe were to re-establish a 2 goal lead as another dangerous Mcinnes delivery ended loose and Jack Chambers was quickest to react with a brilliant finish!

HT: 4-2

Gryffe continued to dominate and this frustrated Blantyre. Louis Jeffrey continued to carry the ball and was sieved down by Blantyre’s 8 who was sent off for the challenge after 60 minutes.

Blantyre managed to get one back to ramp up the pressure with a good header from a corner.

Gryffe created chance after chance but couldn’t put the game to bed. Blantyre were reduced to 9 as their number 6 lost the head and was given his marching orders.

With less 5 to play it was the same story, another Blantyre player losing the head, this time the goalkeeper. He was sent off and Blantyre were down to 8!

He was then followed by his manager who was also sent packing!

Gryffe couldn’t manage to finish, some missed opportunities, and some good saves keeping the score down much to the coaching staffs frustration.

FT: 4-3

A big 3 points for the ammies and much deserved. A superb performance for 60 minutes. The less said about the last half hour the better!!

Gryffe vs East end heart

Back at home today for Gryffe, who were looking for a big reaction after a really poor performance last week. Gryffe were low on numbers today and a big effort would be required to get the win.

Gryffe started well and created chances but could not apply the finishing touch. It was to be East End to take the lead, nodding home from a good set piece.

Gryffe got themselves back on terms as Jonny Lee found Thomas Mallinder who was brought down to win Gryffe a penalty. Finlay Durrant stepped up and confidently sweeped home to draw Gryffe level.

HT: 1-1

Gryffe came out the traps flying after being challenged by the coaching staff at half time to find another way of winning.

A great move found Alex Quinn in on goal who unselfishly squared the ball for Ben Blair to finish on his return to the side!

Alex Quinn was causing all kinds of problems and got himself in on goal with his pace and power, his first shot was well saved but he was alive for the rebound and finished to give gryffe breathing space!

Gryffe were flowing now and a brilliant move saw Alex Quinn split the East End defence with Mallinder in on goal. He finished brilliantly first time into the far corner for 4-1!

A mishap at the back allowed East End a second.

Gryffe were awarded a penalty as substitute Josh Jackson refused to give the ball up and was brought down before he could finish. Durrant stepped up once again but was this time denied by a good save.

FT: 4-2

A great reaction and a big 3 points to put Gryffe above today’s opponents. Some brilliant performances across the board with everybody doing their bit to secure the points.

Strathclyde Utd vs Gryffe AFC

Horrendous conditions for today’s game with the wind and rain swirling. Gryffe were looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

A fast start from Gryffe, with 4 minutes on the clock Harry Mcinnes played a defence splitting through ball to the onrushing Jamie Love to finish well!

With 6 minutes played Gryffe played from the back, through the midfield and into Kieran Love who played a brilliant through ball for Jamie Love who unselfishly squared it for Jude Jackson. An early goal of the season contender!

It was 3-0 after 9 minutes as debutant Callum Gilmour stepped onto a loose ball and fired home well from range!

Strathclyde were to be reduced to 10 men after a headbutt on a Gryffe player. The boys did well to not get involved and continue playing their game.

Just before half time it was 4 as Alex Quinn did well to slide in Jamie love who again unselfishly squared it, this time for Harry Mcinnes to finish.

HT: 0-4

The skipper was next to get in on the act as he fired home a rocket from 25 yards which went in off the post.

Harry Mcinnes got his second of the day with a goal direct from a corner for 6-0!

It was that man again Mcinnes who stepped up and wrapped home an excellent free kick to seal his hat trick!

Gryffe vs Kelvindale

The beginning of the league campaign, and Gryffe’s first game in Division One was finally here!

It was not the start Gryffe had hoped for after some good play found Kelvindale 1-0 up after 10 minutes.

The lead didn’t last long as Jude Jackson found Harris Cunningham who burst past his man and finished well across the goalkeeper.

Gryffe were on top and creating chances, but struggling to apply the finishing touch.

This was until the 45th minute where some great play from Jamie Love found Thomas Mallinder who squared it for Jude Jackson to sweep home for a well deserved goal!

HT: 2-1

The second half started like the first, with gryffe dominating the ball, moving it well but struggling to find that third goal.

Adam Telford did well to cover round in the left back position, winning the ball back and playing a diagonal pass over the top for the onrushing Jamie Love. Jamie brought it down and finished brilliantly for 3-1!

Gryffe continued to dominate possession and move the ball well, Louis Jeffery came closest as he saw a great effort come back off the post.

Kelvindale did sneak a second goal with virtually the last action of the game, but it was too little too late as Gryffe saw the game out.

FT: 3-2

A great start to life in Division One with 3 points on the board. A really good performance from the entire group, who were fully deserving of the win.

Gryffe vs Polonia Glasgow

A final pre season game for Gryffe against Polonia Glasgow, who had recently beaten last seasons Premiership champions Maryhill Milan, so this was to be a tough test.

Gryffe took the lead after 14 minutes, when skipper Kieran Love played a perfect 40 yard diagonal pass which was controlled brilliantly by Harris Cunningham who burst past his man and finished well.

It was to be 2-0 on 20 minutes as Jamie Love burst down the right side, fired a ball across, which was turned into his own goal by a polonia player.

Gryffe made it 3 after Louis Jeffery found Harris Cunningham who cut in and rifled home brilliantly!

Cunningham then turned provider as he played a brilliant ball over the top for Finlay Durant who cut in and smashed it into the top corner for 4-0!

HT: 4-0

Cunningham picked up where he left off and finished a free kick from 20 yards brilliantly to round off a terrific hat trick!

There was time for one more for Gryffe as Cunningham won the ball back, and it found its way to Thomas Mallinder whose shot was deflected and looped into the goal for 6-0!

FT: 6-0

Great performances across the board with some outstanding attacking play. A special shout for Harris Cunningham who was absolutely unplayable on the day!
