🚨 Important Notice – Riverside & Woodend Pitches 🚨
As a committee, Jed Mini Rugby want to address a very serious and ongoing issue affecting our training and match days.
We are continuing to find dog fouling on the pitches at Riverside and Woodend, as well as on the surrounding grass areas that we regularly use for warm-ups, drills and mini games. These spaces are used every week by our young players.
This is not just unpleasant — it is a significant health risk. Our children are training, tackling, and playing on these surfaces. Dog fouling can carry harmful bacteria and parasites, and no child should be exposed to that while taking part in sport.
Woodend is also the home ground for Jed Legion Football Club, meaning this issue affects players across multiple age groups and teams in our community. We know the Legion have also been battling this issue for considerably longer than they should need too.
We are asking all dog owners to act responsibly:
• Please clean up after your dog every single time.
• Please ensure you are carrying bags when walking near or across playing fields.
• Please avoid allowing dogs to foul on marked pitches or training areas.
Our volunteers work incredibly hard to provide safe, enjoyable sport for local children and adults. We should not have to inspect and clean pitches before sessions to make them safe.
If this continues, we will have no option but to raise the matter further with the relevant authorities.
We are proud of our community — please help us keep our pitches clean, safe and fit for everyone to use.
Thank you for your cooperation.
