The NTB Performance Pyramid.
In weightlifting, its easy to become distracted by the weight on the bar, the medals being won and the records being broken.
Our pyramid brings us back to what matters and reminds us that success must be built in the correct order.
1. MAKE LIFTS — The Foundation:
Before chasing bigger numbers, learn to make lifts, Build repeatable technique and develop confidence in becoming consistent in training and dependable under pressure.
A made lift gives us something to build upon. A missed lift can teach us something, but missing cannot become the plan.
Make the lift first then everything else follows.
2. ADD WEIGHT — The Progression:
Once you are making lifts consistently, you earn the right to add weight.
Progress should be purposeful, not driven by ego, impatience or comparison with the person on the next platform. The goal is not simply to lift more once. It is to become capable of lifting more, more often.
Consistency earns progression.
3. MAKE TOTALS THAT MATTER — The Purpose:
The most meaningful total is not always the one that wins a medal or breaks a record.
It might be your first competition total. A personal best, Six successful lifts, the 'I'm so back comeback from injury. Or a performance shared with teammates, coaches and family that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Medals tarnish, Records are broken and numbers are eventually surpassed.
But the people, the moments and the memories remain.
Make lifts.
Add weight.
Make totals that matter to you.
Most importantly, make memories.
The NTB Culture Wheel.
Culture is not something written on a wall.
It is created by the standards we uphold, the behaviours we repeat and the way we make people feel when they walk through our doors.
At North Tyneside Barbells, our culture begins with the individual and works outwards:
PERSONAL — Begin with yourself:
Arrive ready, Be consistent and always be mindful of how your attitude and actions affect the room.
TEAM — Strengthen the people around you:
Warm up together, Use constructive language, always try to be coachable and celebrate the progres
