What a week my client has had!!

Being selected for the England rugby league under 16s squad is an incredible achievement, one that couldn't be more deserved. I've never met anyone with the drive and determination that connor has, big future ahead for him, watch this space!

Of course we celebrated with a brutal training session, including a pb on the trap bar deadlift of 200kg for 3 reps πŸ’ͺ.

Most people do not fail because the plan is wrong. They fall off because the change is too aggressive to sustain.

Behavioural research shows adherence drops when too many variables change at once.

Too much, too soon

New training plan, new diet, increased activity. When everything changes at once, it creates overload and reduces consistency.

Environment not aligned

If the environment does not support the goal, everything relies on willpower. That rarely holds over time.

All-or-nothing thinking

Missing one session or meal often leads to abandoning the plan entirely. This is a common behavioural pattern.

Sustainable progress comes from controlled change.

If strength is not increasing over time, muscle is unlikely to grow.

Muscle adaptation is specific. Small gaps in training ex*****on can limit progress significantly.

Proximity to failure

Hypertrophy is maximised when sets are taken close to muscular failure. Training too far from failure reduces stimulus.

Stability limits output

If an exercise is unstable, force production drops. Less force means less mechanical tension on the target muscle.

No progression tracking

Without tracking load or reps, progressive overload becomes inconsistent. The body adapts when demand increases.

Effective training is not about feeling exhausted.

It is about applying enough stimulus and progressing it over time.
